Chances against Air Force?

Are we going to win this game? Look at my location, see where I live. If ND doesnt win this one life is gonna be real hard for at least a year. I might need extra prayers. Seriously guys, Ive talked to a few Air Force officers who are quietly hoping for an ND victory. Theres a lot of rivalry between guys who went to the Academy and guys who didnt.

Germany, I didn't realize you were a militry man, much less an Air Force one. I spent 5+ years in the Air Force as a Civil Engineering officer. What's your specialty?

Now, that being said, I think we have a good chance to be Air Force. I have a couple of good buddies in Colorado Springs that I've talked with about this. They have a new set of head coaches this year and are playing pretty well but have been over matched by superiori talent. They are still fundamentally sound and still run the ball quite a bit but there has been a shift in their playcalling to include more of the pass then in years past. I think our experience against Navy will help us defend Air Force's running game better and we just have the better talent on the field.

I say there is a 75% chance we win the game.

Blarney, Sorry I was a little misleading in my post. I was actually Army Intelligence but am now a civilian. I just work at Ramstein. Its a pretty great place. They are already getting geared up for an Air Force win over here. I hope ND can mess that up for them. I have to admit most of the Air Force guys are pretty cool and respectful of ND. They have quite high character standards and they realize that ND does as well. Hats off to these guys. Any trash talking here is mostly just good clean fun, pretty mild. I think we are gonna win this won. 60% chance. Go Jimmy, Go Irish!

Domer23, you lucky guy. I wish I was going. Im gonna have to wait till they come to Dublin. When is that game? I can fly over there round trip for about $40.

ah, the power of cheap flying in Europe. I love it. When my brother took a symester in Italy he flew to about 10 different countries in Europe ten different weekends for a whole total of about 300 bucks.

have fun at that game. We should be returned to glory by then.

I think that Navy is much better running the ball than Air Force.

They do like to throw it around though, and this plays more to our strengths on D.

If Air Force was smart, they would NEVER throw the ball after watching last weeks game.

Notre Dame by 10.

As far as Im concerned ND beats the odds by losing every week. Based on ND's credentials they should have won many games this year. Somethings got to give. How much longer can they keep losing games they should be winning? I say Irish by 10 against the Falcons.

That's one of the problems with the 2007 Irish, they are finding ways to lose games rather than finding ways to win games.

Guest Colonialhead

Are there a lot of AF fans there GermanyDomer?

Back when I was in, I always found that guys still cheered for the team they liked before they were in. We all rooted for Navy as sort of a 2nd team, but I was still Irish all the way. luckily I was able to meet some fellow Irish fans at each command I went to.

Do you have any fellow Irish fans with you over there?

Colonial and rick, It seems like the only AFA fans are the officers who attended the Academy. Some AF people sort of like AFA as their second team. Everyone still loves their homestate teams as well. There are a ton of Irish fans over here. Irish fans are everywhere. Maybe thats why we get so much hate. We are worldwide. Europe is fun and Ramstein is the place to be . Their are now about 50'000 Americans in the immediate area around the base. So you get to live in Europe with most of the comforts of home. I still miss the U.S. though. One of these days Im going to go out and take a picture of the sign for the town of Clausen and post it on this board. Its about 20 minutes away by the French border.

Clausen is going to light these guys up! My sister in law is an AFA Grad. She was stationed in Ramstein and her husband, also a Lt Colonel, was on loan to Wiesbaden. They both do "weather". They are currently in the midwest. Lots of tickets available! ND 44 AF 18

Hope your right Chiro. I just saw a bunch of Polish Army infantry guys in the BX wearing desert BDU's. They are huge. I was just thinking any one of them would probably be a good linebacker. Those dudes look tough as nails. Gets me thinking how much were going to miss Zibby.

Zibby has been one of the more dissappointing players on the team over the past two seasons IMHO. This year, he has been great at tackling people 20 yards down the field and has played himself out of the first round draft from two years ago to MAYBE a late round special teams only player. I seriously doubt he plays a single down at Safety at the next level.

Now Trevor Laws...that's an animal that we're going to miss next year! I'd be shocked if he isn't a first rounder.
