That is a pretty weak list. I would say of that list, Cowher and Richt are the two coaches who I think could do a good job. Meyer won't come and I don't want him.

But seriously. No one wants Weis fired yet. I can't wait to say I told you so to all those who wanted Weis gone in a few years. If we aren't good in 2 years, then I will start rooting for USC, because ND will have officially become irrelevant. and I am student too.

But I won't be rooting for USC in 2 years. and we won't be bad next year.

I guarantee it.

with the talent ND is getting now there is no reason why ND shouldn't be good by 2009. if by '09 ND is clearly not very good then it will be CW fault and he'll have to go.

I think he's gone if this continues next season

The only thing keeping him in South Bend right now seems to be his recruiting class.... if he goes then they go.

Im assuming he is going to get a free pass this year.

How can you guarantee it? I can put crap in a box and put a guarentee on it and it will still be crap! Weis hasn't developed players at the natural progression that is needed to keep up with college football. I took it as a wait and see, and if any good administration is smart they would already have a list set in place if things don't work out. I don't see Charlie getting the axe after this season, but if he only goes 6-6 or less next season, he's as good as gone, and I can guarantee that! And I'm an alum too!

Jon Gruden sounds good to me... I feel like he would be able to get the players fired up emotionally which is something Charlie obviously fails at doing. Gruden is just nuts on the sidelines.

Ditto! You hit the nail on the head on that.

I just don't see how you can pin this all on Charlie. It was Kevin White who gave us the schedule that destroyed the confidence of the team. It was Willingham who left us with no senior leadership and no upperclass talent. Charlie went to 2 BCS bowl games. Do people just forget that because we are 1-8 for a lot of reasons not related to him. I am not saying he hasn't made mistakes, but you guys are rediculous. I know you love ND, so do I. We are all passionate about football because thats a huge part of the ND experience. But use some objectivity in assessing the situation. Replacement candidates? I can't believe that guy actually mentioned Hawkins and Meyer.

If Charlie should be fired in two years, which I don't think he should or will, here are coaches I would go after: Bobby Petrino, Kirk Ferentz, Bill Cowher, Gruden, Mark Richt, or Nick Saban

I think part of the reason Charlie signed the extension is because he knew this year was going to be terrible. I wonder if Charlie told Kevin White that they'd struggle this year (I bet not but who knows).

I'm ok with Charlie and some of his calls. The fact is that ND isn't going to outperform anyone (they've proved it) and Charlie is trying to manufacture something.

bew, I respect the Irish Band of brothers very much. I just think they dove off the cliff some. Cowher as a replacement HC gave me the biggest laugh all week.

Looking at what was said 'Some board of directors leaving the sky box in disgust.' I dunno, I wasn't at the game I can't afford the game and don't know who was creeping around the expensive sky box to note their mood.

I care nothing about the ND Board of directors mood. Yes they run the ship but the fans are the wind in the sails that propell that ship.

They think they fired Ty. No siree, it was an overwhelming upswelling of subway fans on the internet that pressured them to can him.

ND Nation is always weird and BGS allows weirds to post and I know it's negative Charlie there. At Domer Domain 90% of the poll backs Charlie.

We fans seized the ownership of Notre Dame 2005. As Colonial said you guys are watching TV eating cheetos.

Your second guessing everything. All I ever said was the O line allowing the sack and fumble by sharpley which led to a Defensive TD, we would have won this.

I at long last saw football played.

Coaches fired, Polean and Latina. We need fundimentals on O line. You guys are trying to reinvent the wheel and think another "HC"coach can do so. Most of these had to be hired by telephone 2005 and you are blind to all of that and buying into the negative media.

Once again simply show me a Board of Director that left in disgust and i will EM them I back Charlie. I think that is a false report.

#1 Weis isn't going anywhere. There may be some position coach changes but Tuna stays.

I think we need to start looking for some replacements for some of our fanbase.

Thats been the best comment in this thread. Its embarrassing to hear us spout off like this. Have you seen the depth charts, the youth, and totally forgotten about the two consecutive recruiting classes coming in that are GREAT. Patience my friends, patience! We saw this coming early in the year, just didnt want to believe it was going to be so bad. ND will rise again, and it will be under Charlie!

Well said Stokes.

no doubt....but that would take reasoning and to evaluate the issues with this team objectively....that is asking way too much........what changed between the past two BCS years and this year.....the coach is the same infact we have a better d-fensive coordinator....lets see what else.....nope lets just fire Charlie yep thats the answer
