On WFAN in New York, Mike Francessa was just saying that he ran into Charlie this week. He said Charlie told him the fans and people within the program have been phenomenal during this trying season. He said Charlie told him that he (Charlie) knew that this would be a trying year, but didn't expect it to be this bad. Charlie told him that he thinks we will be "decent" next year and by 2009, no one will want a piece of us. Just passing along what was heard on radio.

i wonder if being decent next year will hurt ND in recruiting.

With our schedule next year we better be at the very least decent. Anything less than 8 wins next year will be a failure in my opinion.

I think Charlie might categorize 9-3 as "decent" v. next year's schedule

Decent, hmmmm. Maybe Charlie is learning to down play things a little bit better then he did with his rebuilding comments this year. I hope that is a case and this is an example of another positive change in his approach.

this sounds about right 8 wins would be a good thing but i think that we will have a tough time getting 8 wins what say you . :)

Eight is no easy feat...

I have no doubt there are 8 wins in this schedule, off the of of my head, the wins will be SDS, PU, Stanford, UNC, Pitt, BC, Navy & Syracuse. The UM and MSU games will be tough, because they always are. I think we win at UW but it is a tough place to play and Ty will have the boys charged up and USC is USC, so it will be another tough game.

I wish this was the 2009 ND schedule. Looks almost as easy as Ohio State's.

if NDs OL plays up to it's ability i see things this way. ND should really have seven wins for sure and they have a shot against UW, by then ty may have his team in the toliet. michigan will again be a tough game, i wonder how ryan mallet will do in his first road ND game without hart, maybe manningham and his solid OL. BC is without matt ryan so you never know. the MSU game could really go either way, they always play us like it's the super bowl and playing at MSU will be tough. ND will should at least be 7-5 with a real shot at 8-4 or 9-3 but it'll all depend on our OL.

We really need to win two of those toss ups. I'd like to see a Gator bowl like appearance and win our bowl.

Regarding recruiting if we can recruit this year we should be able to recruit any year. I do see it being more of a wait and see type situation next year. If make progress we should be able to have another decent haul.

I'd put Washington in the WIN column. Their program is melting from it's core and is only going to get worse.

You may be right though, TY may be gone by the time we play them and they may have a decent head coach by then.

I'm an optimist by nature, but am I the only one that has watched this team play? Yeah, we'll improve next year, but 8 wins? We still havn't ran the ball well, we can't block anyone, and UW will have an experienced team. I hope they prove me wrong, but I guess time will tell! -Don

THE GREAT IF

IF as Coach Harbaugh from Stanford stated Petie wont be at USC next year. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm? :D
