My neighbor is a Naval Academy Grad. He is almost bubbling with enhtusiasm for this years game!

...almost...

this will be a very tough game for the irish, you can bet your socks on this thoes Navy boys are ripe for a defeat over the irish . could happen , but i hope for an irish win. :)

I have gone on record that all I cared about this season was a win over Navy...

I have to agree with you at this point  Seriously though, this game is scary to me for one reason and one reason only. Navy will be so pumped up for this game to FINALLY be the team that beats ND and our team is about as deflated as they come. This, above everything else is what concerns me the most.

Navy's offense is a pain in the ass to defend against, but it is predictable. There's only so many things you can do with the triple option...although the possible plays are not 3 as the name suggests. I think we should get spotted 10 points just for pronouncing their QB's name correctly!!

Seriously!? I know this team is very disciplined, but every year we play them, we seem to understand that we have Notre Dame talent and they have Navy talent. The defense will show up as it does every year, matching up man on man and saying we are bigger and faster than you. For the offense, there is one play we should run. Two tight ace formation with Golden and Armando split out running fly patterns. Just throw it up and let them outplay the Navy DBs. To throw in a wrinkle, release Carlson and hit him up the middle. Then, throw in a lil hughes or armando in the backfield.

I'm hoping Navy comes in thinking "this is the year" and as a result tries to force things and gets cute and as a result makes a bunch of mistakes b/c they think ND is so bad. Granted, we are bad, but playing the #1 toughest schedule in the country has also made us look worse than we probably are.

Are we better than Navy, I don't know? We've got better "talent", but they may have a better team. They beat Pitt, so we know they can play, even with undersized players. (I know Pitt sucks and all, but a win is a win) I think we can. Of all the coaches that have coached against Navy, I think ours fairs the best. -Don p.s. - Zibby better have a great game for us!!

This is a game where we should feed it to Hughes at least 25 times. Then just pass it and run draws out of 4 receiver sets.

Let me rattle off these numbers: 258, 285, 239, 216, and 196. No those are not the rushing totals for the Midshipmen, rather that's the weight of their defensive front (ND's O-Line averages 6-6, 305 lbs.). This is one of the smallest defenses in Navy HISTORY! Yes they play with a lot of heart and determination, but this is the most talented team (based on recruiting) they will face.

In case you were wondering, Navy's Offensive Line averages around 6-1, 278 lbs. Definitely the smallest the Irish defense has played so far. The Midshipmen are giving up more than two inches to the likes of Trevor Laws, Pat Kuntz, Dwight Stephenson, John Ryan and Kerry Neal.

Thanks bew I was wondering how big they were. :D

The Midshipmen have not played anyone close to the caliber of teams the Irish have faced. They have faced an up and down Rutgers squad (41-21 loss), a typical Pornstache Pitt team (48-45 win), Testicle Tech (Ball State), Duke, Wake Forest, Air Force, Temple, and I-AA Delaware. There is no way, under Coach Johnson, that Navy should be 4-4. They are struggling like us. Plus they have a ton of injured starters on defense. That's why I like our chances.

there is no reason why ND cann't run all over navy. navys pass defense stinks, i think ND will throw the ball on navy then hand the ball off to allen and let him rip navy apart on the ground.

Utah scored 44 points against UCLA. We scored 20. We've played better defenses, Navy has not. The difference between the two I'm talking about, is scoring. Navy has scored points, we have not. I don't care if we played all #1's at this point. If lowly Utah can put up 44 against UCLA, then that argument is out the door! UCLA was the second best defense we played this season. So do I want us to win, of course. Do I see a definate win, no I do not. It's not the usual Notre Dame vs. Navy game where you can bet off of the names. It's a team who can't score most of the time, playing a team who has no defense, but has scored exponetially more points than we. So, keep all of this in perspective when announcing ND's next win. -Don

Also, we should be ashamed of our rushing numbers. It's not even funny to read the above post talking about numbers "257, 278, 235, 198....and no those aren't Navy's rushing yards" . What's sad is we havn't come close to those numbers. We probably don't even have 2 of those numbers combined! But, hopefully our boys learned how to block with the extra week off!! I hope we win, but I wouldn't guarantee it! -Don
