My opinion is that regardless of what people think of Rees, I think it would be a major issue for Notre Dame to lose him at this particular point in time. I think he will eventually go to the NFL, but nothing credible at this time.

The timing wouldn’t be great, I’ll give you that. However, in the long run, it would be beneficial.

No, I don't want them to win a title......you're such an f'n loser!!! Elder is the worst contributor to this forum.  What a clown!!!! I think C. Lewis should start if the coach starts him. And I'm sure you'll have some elementary school reply, so let it fly clown show!!!

I think Mickens & Freeman need to ask why they’ve done so little to improve the Secondary that he’s the best they can do.

Any new topic will be hijacked into Rees sucks he should be demoted and can't recruit, Angeli is a bum, MF cant recruit on offense. Avery Johnson sucks. We're behind on every offensive player

    Cry, whine, complain

    Wash, rinse, repeat

The stuff isnt even fun to debate because most of it is bull shit and hes doesnt watch film and doesnt really know the players or the game.

    It's just annoying shit

I’ve watched plenty of film on Angeli & Johnson, they’re both terrible. And who recruited them? Rees.

I see you talk a big game, but in the end you are willing to settle for less.  I'm glad the people in charge now don't have your mentality.  It's recruiting.  Anything can happen.  Arnold can absolutely be flipped.  A good OC that is clearly in the mix for Moore doesn't give up on a program changer for Arnold at this point.

He’s not good, he’s proven he fails more often than not on his top targets. That’s how you end up with a Brendon Clark, Drew Pyne or Steve Angeli.

It's a shame that Kelly went 12 years without putting in the effort that Saban, Meyer, and others (including Freeman) put into recruiting. 12 wasted years in a sense.

When you hear that Saban visits certain Catholic football power high schools at least once a year while Kelly never darkened their doorstep, it makes wish that Kelly would have left years ago.

Kelly made visits to the Cincinnati Catholic HS all the time. I know that for a fact.

    Based on what qualifications?

The fact that many wanted Kelly fired. ND was dogshit in the 15 yrs before he arrived and he got them to where they won 10 games 5 straight yrs and had the program trending In the right direction. That alone makes me smarter than most fans on here. I also don’t buy into any romanticizing or hype, I look at everything logically.

Not wanting to reply to Elder but if, as he says, fans and and even players do not know to build a winning program, then why should anyone listen to someone like Elder. Isn't he just a fan himself? Not sure what credentials Elder has that puts him above everyone else. Did Elder say that he did not even play high school football? Yet he can evaluate football talent better than coaches who do it for a living?

I think I’m a lot smarter than your average fan. I don’t get sucked up by the emotional propaganda put on on social media. That video of the players mobbing Freeman in the weight room means absolutely nothing to me. IDGAF how hard some of them play for him, the reality is a handful are terrible players that should never have been recruited, much less start for a serious program.

Fickell doesnt have the recruiting upside to bring us a Title.  MF does

Freeman hasn’t recruited shit on Offense. Don’t sell me on him recruiting at a championship level until that picks up, bc right now, it’s garbage.

You are confusing a Recruiting win with development. Buchner was an absolute big time recruiting Win by Rees. By the way his passing doesn’t suck. Does he need to continue to work on it.  Yes.

So let me get this straight, you want an elite quarterback, but you are willing to settle for Arnold.  You have been yelling from the mountain tops that we need an elite quarterback.  There is a definite difference between Arnold and Moore. Moore is a program changer and you’re willing to stop recruiting him to take Arnold?

We are not behind for Moore in fact we are very much in the thick of things for Moore.  I’d love to see your evidence that says that we are behind for Moore. A Michigan insider recently said that Notre Dame is killing it with Moore and Harbaugh‘s first order of business needs to be to contact him.

also if they do happen to miss out on moore, they are still recruiting Arnold. Did you know that? He still plans to visit Notre Dame.  Recruiting is very fluid and changes on a dime.

Arnold can be elite, and I flat out don’t trust Rees to wheel in Moore or Vizzina. I know Arnold is technically in the mix, but I don’t think he’s less likely to be at ND after committing than Moore or Vizzina. I’m also pissed off that Johnson is the 4th option. His best offer outside of ND is Wisconsin. And even that wouldn’t bother as much if they hadn’t brought in a stiff in this year’s class.

I would not have been upset with a Jackson Arnold commitment. As much as I want Dante Moore, I sure hope we do not miss out on both of them...

And right now, it looks like it’s going to be Avery Johnson. Moore leaning Michigan and Vizzina Clemson. I think if that happens, Rees needs to be demoted to where he’s just calling plays.

His defense has finished in the top 24 in the last 4 seasons. Kelly offered him to be the top DC in the country.  Day wanted him at OSU.  He was hired by Fickell.

So yeah, easily a top DC

Theres plenty of skill talent here. Not elite elite but still very good

They looked pretty bad when they weren’t playing v terrible teams.

you're on here all the time talking about how high school/college kids are scrubs and suck and are trash and all type of other BS. that's why I don't like you. say whatever you want about the coaches, but your disrespect towards kids that are given the opportunity to play at a great university is cowardice. you'd never walk up to C. Lewis, or Angelli, or Price, or any of the numerous other kids you've disrespected and call them a scrub to their face. you're a fool, and everything you write on here is worse than any mistake a college kid is going to make on the football field. quit the 'clown show' and start showing some respect to kids that play for the team you allegedly support. you are trash!

Do you want ND to win a Title? If so, get off the soapbox. Clarence Lewis has no business starting at Corner for ND, Bo Bauer & JD Bertrand are awful LBs, and Angeli is a low Big 10 level recruit.

This whole discussion is multidimensional and has a melting of Tommy Rees the coach and Tommy Rees the recruiter. Bk or ND, however you want to look at it, was on the every other year plan with QBs meaning get a top guy then a solid guy, top guy, solid...Lets take this back to 2015

2015: ND lands Brand Wimbush one of the most accurate QBs in NJ football history. Something then broke in Wimbush as his accuracy disappeared and he could not even hit the target net, the ENTIRE netting structure, at practice. Something that ND reporters of 20-30 years had never seen before. He was the top guy and it failed. Nothing to do with Rees coaching or recruiting.

2016: ND takes Ian Book. Turns out to statistically be one of the best ND QBs ever. Nothing to do with Rees the recruiter but Rees did have Book ready to play as a coach.

2017: Avery Davis, which was a bad evaluation by Mike Sanford, nothing to do with Rees the recruiter. Rees the coach likely figured out that Davis was not a QB and thus the position change so maybe Rees the coach gets some credit there. This was actually ND taking two "solid" QBs two years in a row.

2018: Phil is a top guy and a win. Another Sanford guy but he left and maybe Rees the recruiter gets some credit for keeping Phil. Chip Long then demoralized Phil to the point he was considering switching to TE at ND before ultimately figuring out he wanted to be a QB and transferred. Chip Long was let go from ND and Rees the coach was never mentioned as an issue for Phil.

2019: Back to the solid guy with Brendon Clark who was recruited by Rees and Chip Long. Knee injury wiped out ever seeing what he could do. No real idea of what Rees the recruiter or coach might have had.

2020: Drew Pyne, likely a missed evaluation by multiple schools. He was a Chip Long and Rees recruit. Looking at his offer list, he was a very wanted man early on. He was considered a top guy initially. Likely projected to grow physically and that never happened.

2021: Tyler Buchner is a top guy and a win for Rees the recruiter. Rees the coach will be shown this year.

2022: Angeli and everyone knows how everyone feels. Time will tell if Rees the recruiter and coach is right about him. Klubnik losing interest in ND was on BK. Allar going to PSU was on Rees. There is not enough info yet to know how this will play out.

    2023: Unknown

Truly looking at it, Rees the recruiter contributed to Phil, Clark, Pyne, Buchner, and Angeli. Clark and Pyne were also recruited by Chip Long and the OC should be the main driving force behind what QB runs their offense, Rees was in a role of helping and doing what he was told. Buchner and Angeli truly go to Rees and there really isn't enough information to say if that is bad or good yet. I am not defending Rees as a good QB recruiter, but I don't think there is enough evidence yet to truly judge. ND needs to get away from the every other year stuff and they plan to do that. Better consistency targeting top QBs needs to happen and will with Freeman and Rees moving forward.

    Angeli is bad.

You ignored the other half of my post. Does Freeman get credit for keeping the recruits?

Yes, absolutely. However, I don’t know if Fickell would’ve been worth losing the class over.

Again, that should show all the dummies who kept pushing for Kelly to be fired, how destructive losing a HC is to your program. Yet, some of you are ok firing a coach every 3-4 years.
