Pertaining to ND, rumor is that ND will join the Big 12 in all sports except football until the NBC contract is up
-
He was a Florida fan growing up. ND made up a lot of ground but just couldn't overcome Bell growing up a Florida fan
-
I thought this thread was a joke. When I realized it wasn't I stopped reading the OP
-
He decided to announce May 12th WHILE on his visit to ND. Was tweeting with Zaire and tweeted how great it was to be hanging out with the hawaiians at ND.
I thought he was a big PSU lean but things may have changed.
No, he was planning on announcing May 12 and then during trip he decided to announce April 11

Ya its Robinson. Kid is just scratching the surface of his potential and he has great bloodlines. Not a true burner but more of a possession/go over the middle of the field WR.

I love the fact that at 6' 6", Steve Elmer is the shorty in the group.
He's not 6'6, hes 6'9. As of now we are done with OL recruiting. Maybe later in the year the staff will take another OL prospect, but as of now they will only take players that play primarily on the DL. Just have to wait and see how that affects the other prospects who were considered tweeners between OL/DL
-
Very solid start to the OL class.....Dorian Johnson (4* OL) visits tomo so well see how that goes
-
A QB, any QB, to step up his play and be able to take hold of the lead going into summer ball (preferably Golson who's been spending a lot of time in the film room)
-
so any news on how his weekend went?
Under the impression that he didn't commit
-
Anyone know if the small visit list was the original plan?
I'm fine with trying to go smaller, but curious if this was the intent or if this was the result of poor planning
Yes, the list was either elite players (Smith, Isaac, Lisle) or really good players that had a good shot to commit (Bivin, Matuska). Obviously Lisle dropped out with OSU commitment and Bivin has basketball and they added Johnson, but it was really important to staff to spend A LOT of one on one time with Smith and Isaac.
-
I think we get Bivin and Matuska this weekend

LOL we said this about Darby. No amount of feel better medicine will make me believe that a recruit who decides way too early is Irish. It's a joke to even accept offers this early.
I don't think anyone ever said Darby was completely solid
-
Elmer is completely solid

Mom wants him close to home. You dont f with moms.
Its only a little more then an hour extra to drive to Columbus from Fort Wayne

Keith Arnold, NBC Irish beat writer, has suggested the Irish will be in a position to take up to 25 players for next year. TFWIW...
We can take up to 25 if no fifth years come back. Right now there is four open scholarships on the team and 11 players will run out of eligibility next year. Also 9 possible fifth year candidates. They are Wood, Eifert, Golic, Martin, Watt, Stockton, Calabrese, Fox, Tausch. I would think Wood, Martin, Watt and one of Calabrese/Fox will be back for a fifth year. My best guess is 20 scholarships without any transfers for next year.

Could only imagine the media backlash if Kelly did that about DG
-
We have a defense that is competent and we can run the ball. If you can't see the improvement between Weis and Kelly you really don't know anything about football IMO
-
With 20 spots I think we need
QB - 1
RB - 1 (unless both Green and Isaac come then you don't turn them down)
WR - 3
TE - 1
OL - 3
DE - 1
NT - 1
ILB - 2
OLB - 2
CB - 3
S - 1
Thats 19 recruits with a scholarship or two (depending on transfers) to play with
-
Were at 81 scholarships right now. There will be 11 seniors who exhaust eligibility this year. Eight players with two years remaining as well. They are: Wood, Eifert, Golic, Martin, Watt, Stockton, Calabrese, Fox, Tausch. I would think Eifer, Golic, Stockton, One of Calabrese/Fox, and Tausch would not come back. That would give us 20 scholarships without any transfers.

For a board so overly convinced of it's importance in the recruitment of players, I'm consistently surprised by the accidental slighting of Chris Brown. It's shocking, if for no other reason, that he's the one example of a player who we know for a fact has family members reading this site (or at least has in the past). Couple that with his exceptional senior film, the failed last second poaching attempt by Urban Liar, and I just don't get it why he's not being constantly fellated here.
Is it because he's ranking doesn't make people drool like a DGB, who incidentally has not expressed any interest in ND at all? Or is it because he wasn't on national TV in one of the unnecessary national all star games?
On Goodman, yea I don't get it either.
EDIT: I actually ahve no idea if the OSU he was flirting with was Ohio St, Oklahoma St, or Oregon St, I just remember seeing it a while back.
Ill say it, Chris Brown has more potential then any other player in the class

Its down to Notre Dame vs. Rutgers then I believe and from what I have heard on this board and others is that he kind of wants to get away from home. If this kid doesnt commit to Notre Dame, I would be surprised... His commitment would ease the pain of losing Darby. Darby may be faster, but Yuri is said to have better coverage skills.
Unfortunately that is not accurate. Darby is the better cover corner right now, but Wright's potential exceeds Darby
-
If you get the right personnel, the 3-4 is the best defense to possibly run. Two years isn't enough though, need more time.
-
I believe 3 scholarships remain if Cave, Cwynar, Slaughter, and KLM all return, which the staff expects them too

Most likely 18 spots....hard to reach 20
