But Belichek, Saban, and Carroll are on the market now.  I'm certain we could convince one of them to come.  Heck we may even convince Charlie Tuna to come back and OC for BB again...

I admire your optimism. I disagree that any of those coaches would be interested in wading into CFB for ND, but it would be interesting if they would.

  2. On balance, it's probably more helpful. Saban was 1/1. No longer competing with him makes things a bit easier for everyone. If another top coach (say, Dabo) goes there, he will probably struggle to handle the situation, and his previous employer (Clemson) would likely suffer a dip, too. So, that would make two weakened competitors (in theory).

If they take Freeman, it hurts big. I believe in what Freeman is building, but I don't think it would survive his leaving without taking a big hit.

I’m worried that Lambert isn’t part of this weekend’s event. He’s a high academic kid who was teammates with Traore in the ‘23 class.

As I was reviewing the list of signed commits, I was reminded of this conversation we had almost a year ago. I'm sure our past selves would be very pleased to see ND ended up getting both Lambert and Prescod!

  4. I want the players to convince the coaches that they're the better team in every contest for the rest of the season. (The coaches should have already believed this, but I thought they coached scared against OSU.)

I think these players know the team is special. If they can convince the coaches to trust them and let them play to win, I'll back them to run the table (CFP included, if we're that lucky).

  5. Sports fandom is like wearing a costume. We're pretending to be part of the team as we watch the games. The most fun Halloweens are the ones where you commit to the bit, right? You get lost in the "character" and start to feel like the role you're playing. Eventually, the role playing ends and you go back to being you.

That's kinda how I feel about things. I'm an ND fan, but that's not my identity. It's a part of me that I use to entertain myself, but it is not the core of me.

    Chase Claypool.

He was a monster in 2019. I think ND's WRs are getting better. But ND still lacks a true #1. Imagine how much better Claypool would make Jayden Thomas, Jaden Greathouse, Chris Tyree, Tobias Merriweather, etc.

That's a great shout. He wrecked teams his final season, and he would be even more effective now.

  7. Gut reaction (subject to change):

    1. Kyle - He was a transformational player (good becomes great, great becomes elite). I also feel robbed that he had injuries like he did in his final season.

    2. Mayer - This offense would be close to unstoppable with a guy that got the numbers he did despite being bracketed a lot of the time. He may not have the best pro career of recent ND TEs, but he had the best college career.

    3. JOK - The LB group may not need the help (the kids should raise the ceiling if they continue to develop), but (like Kyle) he was a unicorn player.

Does anyone know if Peacock puts the games up immediately after they air? My son is in his first year of football and the games are at the same time. I use IPTV and don't have a way to record the game. I am going to have to bite the bullet and get Peacock but want to know about the service before looking for other ways to record and watch as soon as I get home.

If I recall correctly, the on demand usually loads fairly quickly, but I can't say for sure how many hours it takes (or if it is immediate).

I can say that it's annoying due to how NBC sets up the commercials within their app. However, it's an adequate viewing experience. The ad-free premium tier may be better, but I can't speak to that.

  9. I went with DB. The hands just don't seem to be there for some reason (overthinking, yips, idk). It sounds like he was highly-regarded as a DB recruit coming out of high school, too.

It might be a tough transition, but it would speak to a great job by the staff to turn around that WR room in one year. It would also speak highly of the player to be willing to make the move.

I'm not thinking about anything.  I am participating in a conversation on the internet.

Hahaha. Fair enough. I didn't mean to offend.

I only meant to encourage us to enjoy the fact that this is a good team, and they could be great. The most likely outcome of the TSU game is a lopsided victory for the Irish. It feels to me like our fanbase lacks confidence when we should be strutting.
