    My takes:

Tyree - would’ve liked to see him back but he’s going closer to home and in all honesty probably just looking for another opportunity. He never really panned out into the explosive player we thought he would be.

Flores - On record saying he left because stuckey was no longer there.

James - never really picked up the offense and another alleged stuckey casualty.

Merriweather - pretty much a disappointment all around, I figured he’d leave for other opportunities

For what it’s worth there were some rumors going around that one of the stuckey being removed reasons was being caught smoking up with some of the players (besides being a shitty wr coach with the dumbest drills I’ve ever seen). Probably more to it than we’ll ever actually know for sure

Good insight with Flores and James, I hadn't heard that.  Recall reading something about Stuckey smoking with the boys but I don't recall reading anything more than a rumor, as indicated.

So maybe the better question is why Stuckey was let go in the first place (less than?) 24 hours after MF said, paraphrasing, if it were up to him he'd retain the entire staff.  Just seems odd he wouldn't indicate some changes were going to be abreast if that was common knowledge.

  2. Its been a hot minute since I've last posted and thought this might be a good off season topic.

Wondering if anyone had insight on the WR room exodus the end of the season.  Love to hear your thoughts on why we still lost lost a number of WRs and how could a (unranked football) LAX player made the field and contributed over some polished 4 start receivers.  Was Stuckey the issue? or was he liked by the players and that contributed to them leaving?

    1.  Tyree - Amazing move to WR and would have loved to see him come back for his last year.  Was he not going to see the field next year or was the transfer to UVA that much of a better spot for him?  What am I missing?

    2.  Flores Jr. - Again thought he was a great contributor especially for a freshman and would love to have seen him for the next few years.  Was it just home sick?

    3.  James - Highest ranked WR of the bunch coming out of HS.  Saw very limited playing time.  Did we just miss on him or again did Faison just go WAY under the football radar?

    4.  Merriweather - As a incoming freshman he had such high hopes.  Obviously never really panned out for us and of this list could understand why he would look else where.

If you have any insight, I'd love to hear it.

  3. Haven't been to an ND home game in almost 30 years and figure it'd be a cool road trip to take the family to see our alma mater Marshall play in the house that Rockne built.  Online ticket sales seem to be pretty high for an opponent like Marshall.  Any online retailers better to look at?

  4.

Man, I really wish I had your optimism! I watched a few FSU games last year and I just don't see this as being close.

Have to agree with IG here. I'm just not too optimistic, primarily because of the coaching changes and a "new" QB in play. Obviously, our QB comes with experience but its still been a year since he had a live LB bearing down on him. Game speed could be an issue. That is assuming that EG is under center...

...Than again, give me a chance to read a few more of Hawaiii's posts and he'll persuade this years team would beat down the '72 Dolphins with ease.

  5. So I'm cautiously optimistic. Caution comes from his time at Auburn

Trying not to be a Debbie downer, but this and watching the Falcons over the last few years scares the living daylights outa me. Trying to keep an open mind about BVG and see what he can bring to the table, but just can't share in some of the opportunism as some of the folks here.

  6. Never said you said anything about grass.

P.s. Also not trolling you. I took the thread as most hypothetical coaching threads on here. There is a want to feel out who would be picked ahead of Kelly.

And your direct response to me was:

Sure you would. And when you didn't agree with 100 percent of the things he did you'd want someone else.

This grass is always greener on the other side crap is getting old. You all think everyone else would come on to ND and just change the world.

    Again PT stop trolling.

  7. Sure you would. And when you didn't agree with 100 percent of the things he did you'd want someone else.

This grass is always greener on the other side crap is getting old. You all think everyone else would come on to ND and just change the world.

    First, don't troll, its unbecoming.

Second, the question was who would you pick if you were an AD. Not the ND AD.

Suppose you were a college AD in search of a new head coach for your football team.

Who would you pick if you could realistically get him?

Third, don't ever put words in my mouth. I never indicated that the grass was greener. Only that Sumlin and a number of other coaches were top flight and above others. I tossed out a handful of coaches that would be comparable and who I would go after... Surprise, surprise, ND coach is on there as well.

...If the pocket book isn't that deep but still a top flight school the following in any order:

    Sumlin

    O'Leary

    Meyer

    Kelly

    Chip Kelly

Again, don't troll PT it's unbecoming.

  8. Depends on what school your representing. If you at a big name school with deep pockets you in no uncertain terms go after Sabin. You throw crazy numbers like 10 million out there and see what it would take to bring him in.

If the pocket book isn't that deep but still a top flight school the following in any order:

    Sumlin

    O'Leary

    Meyer

    Kelly

    Chip Kelly

  9. I'm not holding my breathe, but you never know. I remember when Ed Reed decided to come back for his senior year at Miami even though he was a first round lock, and had a large family that could have used the money. Then again, I think we all know the "financial aid" at Da U was probably pretty good at that time.

I'd bet Ed took a pay cut going from the U to the league. :becky::becky:

  10. So obviously young Mr. Golson can't play this fall for ND but what are the odds he comes back to ND?

Rumors have him heading to a JC to get his education back in line (oh and maybe some reps under center). After a year of JC, that'll leave him wide open to go to another school of his choice. I'm sure the snake oil salesmen of the world will be coming out of the woodwork (Urban and Rich Rod come to mind) to get a quality player like Everett in their fold.

So in the midst of extreme boredom this off season, what are the thoughts on EG making he's way back home to ND?

  11. We've got snow, temperatures in the 20's, and the ultimate recruiter Jaylon next weekend. 'Bama will have temperatures in the 50's and a crystal trophy to help the weekend after. South Bend versus Tuscaloosa. Looks like a toss-up to me.

Its been cold in the south this week. My car said it was 29 this morning. Maybe we can get lucky and this weather hangs around for his visit.
