Easy Switch - Night Mode & Dark Mode:

I've been trying to figure out a way to make switching between Light & Dark Theme more accessible, and I think I figured out a good solution.

Previously, users would need to know to scroll to the footer, click the Theme dropdown, & switch to their default theme. When the page reloaded, it would be set and stay that way until manually changed. I was never thrilled with the forum's implementation of Light/Dark theme, especially since it didn't take into account users' preferences if they already had Dark mode set on a device.

New Implementation:

• First time visiting since the update - Website should apply light or dark theme based on device settings
• New Dark Theme uses cookies to remember your setting, so it may need to be set per device (PC / Phone / Tablet).
  • If cookies are cleared, you may need to reapply the Dark Theme

The Dark Theme button isn't a native feature of the forum software, so if you come into any issues, please let me know in the comments or via DM

Possible Issues - Reported by:

Please report if you see any issues with the new Light / Dark Theme.

• ⚠️- When Dark Theme is applied, page quickly flashes Light Theme on load (Reported by @Mike)

I'm definitely confused.

I have always had this in Light theme.  Now everything is in Dark theme.

How do I switch back to Light?

I added the Dark theme back to the menu as selectable as well. At least until some of the kinks are worked out. This will make the dark theme permanent across your account if you prefer to use it, without the quick flash of white (if anyone else was having that issue)

Mike, I logged into the site tonight and I found my page on Theme, Dark. I didn't change it. I then tried to take it off Light Theme and put it back on Light. The page flashed Light but went to Dark and now just stays there. Problems? Anyone else?

Hey Speedster, do you have the button in the menu? That should switch it back. It's set to display whatever a device's theme is (PC / Phone) by default, but you should be able to easily switch with this button.

Sometimes Invision is buggy with defaults depending browser. Sometimes the fix is to delete bookmark, make the setting you prefer, then re-add the bookmark. 

If you prefer the old way of just selecting them manually in the footer, don't hesitate to let me know. I added it to the header hoping to make things more convenient, but after it's been incorporated for a few days, any thoughts @OKelleyIrish, @SpeedsterX, @jimbo, @AnTostal, @FaithInIrishForever

I was already familiar with dark via Invision (and other software). So I'm good. No issues at all.

I keep the light setting so I don't care how it is set up.  I am fine with whatever is easier for those who prefer the dark setting.

In an effort to make it a win-win-win, but trying to keep it manageable for myself, I renamed the default theme to 'dynamic' (chooses theme based on device settings). If you want to permanently set Light or Dark theme for your account, there's now options for that as well 👍

The re-theming is DONE!

Edit: Light theme at least. Share any funniness you may come across, but I think I accounted for most (?) of it.
