First off I want to say this is not a sky is falling post but wtf is going on with Rees's gameplanning and calling. 

How is Matt Solerno your answer to the Number 2 team in the country.  Why didn't we see plays for Merriweather or Styles or any of our talented guys?!   They aren't even a second thought for the gameplan!  What a waste of a defensive performance and this is all on Rees.  He wanted all the control and got it and punted 5 straight times.  Osu is playing 0 coverage much of the game and you don't put a 6'5 straight athlete and baller in the game when they are doing that with 8 to 9 guys in the box and throw a few up to him?!?!  As a 5 star wr why the hell would you want to come to nd and sit behind a matt salerno.  

I still haven't gotten familiar with everyone's jersey numbers besides Lenzy 0.  I also didn't get a chance to figure out where everyone lined up all the time.  So did Styles play in the slot at all?  I know I wasn't the only one who thought he would be a good replacement there for Davis.  Agree on Merriweather.  Unfortunately I haven't heard a lot good things with Colzie, and Merriweather fits that tall rangy receiver we need if Colzie isn't getting serious looks.

I think I would be more concerned if we the same thing the next two weeks against Marshall and Cal. I’m not at all thrilled with the wr play either, but game one on the road at Ohio St, I can kind of see the rationale on some of those decisions. Doesn’t mean I don’t agree with you on your points though. We need to see major changes or it’s going to be a long season

I don’t understand why other teams can trot freshmen out there, especially at skill positions. They don’t have to know the full playbook and all the nuances. Give them 10-15 plays and let them be athletes.

until the interior OL and Buchner take big steps forward, our production will be neutered. And Rees will protect and play conservative. 

obviously OSU is the best team we will play, there were some good things that i saw. I still think 10-2 is realistic.

we have a few weeks to get right and get better.

but the fact is, until we start recruiting QB and WR like OSU and Bama and Clemson, we’re going to be more the the Wisconsin’s and Iowa’s of the world.

ND doesn't go after those players...likely because they wouldn't meet the strict academic requirements...and the ones that do meet it have no interest in playing for ND.

That’s not really true. ND offered something like 30 of the 32 5 ⭐️ players this year. Also, if they got into ND they should be somewhat intelligent, right? Shouldnt they be able to Pickup part of the playbook in short order? Merriweather is an athlete, he couldn’t get a few plays?

But again, this is mostly about the limitations of Buchner at this point.

This is why ND is a laughing stock nationally. Salerno would be lucky to make the practice squad for any of the other top ten teams, yet he has the most targets of any wide receiver in our biggest game of the year? Inexcusable.

I just can't believe with all the time we had to prepare a specific gameplan for those guys, that's what we came up with. We needed to be prepared to throw the effing kitchen sink at them, and we couldn't have looked more vanilla. The defense IMO did all it could. and held that offense w/their Heisman candidate QB to 21 pts. I'll take that. The good news is, we won't need a great gaemplan for the next bunch of games, but this felt a lot like the same ole, same ole.

Exactly!  We have tobias merriweather, lotenzo styles, deion colzie and company on the sidelines and your answer is to throw fades to matt frigin salerno?!  How does he even come up with that?  High school coaches wouldnt even do something so stupid
