Saldate has some track & field credentials so hopefully he has some upside but he is rated a three star by most for whatever reason(s). Given that I do not pretend to be able to elevate high school WR talent, it appears that ND is getting a third WR for the 2024 class whatever that means in terms of his future contributions to the Irish. It does appear that ND was at least a little picky and evaluated a few different options at WR before accepting Saldate's commitment.

After digging some more a lot of people like Saldate a lot. He has the traits and overall ability they were looking for. Interested to see his senior season.

Heard Saldate has wrestling background too, so getting physical isn't a problem.  Could see him as a good ST guy while developing as a WR or even getting a look for D.  Pure athlete type.

Yes his brother was #1 HS wrestler at his weight class in the United States as a senior. He was trained by former UFC champion Daniel Cormier. Just missed making AA at the NCAA tournament. This year the way he is trending he should make AA.

Pretty shocking commitment. Not quite to the level of Manti because Manti was a five-star and consensus Top 5 player, but this is huge. The defensive class was/is simply not good enough this cycle, but this commitment changes things in a big way. Need to go for some big flips this fall (Justin Scott - OSU, Kaleb Beasley - Tennessee) to completely change the narrative.

I completely agree, because all signs pointed to tOSU. Definitely huge considering Justin Scott going to to tOSU. But as you said, hopefully ND can flip him! 🤞🏼

Excellent pick up for ND. That is exactly what they need to do. Now they need to land Lambert in August and maybe Andrews soon (but he’s really 2026). Work on another CB and interior DL during the season. Then see what happens if other big fish are interested or someone blows up in the fall.

Its likely because the average ussually only takes the top 20 players in the class so ND would pull ahead with the remaining.
