@ELDER06Β I don't know if this will make you feel better about Rees not being at Moore's school today, but I thought I'd share.

  • Having a difference of opinion is one thing, being disrespectful and rude because others disagree with your opinion is entirely different.Β

I agree golson, but better athleticism doesn't equate to a "higher ceiling", IMO.

Buchner has more raw talent. Go root for Purdue, you clearly have some kind of attachment to this kid. However, just like Avery Johnson, he’s not good enough to get ND where they need to be.

This thread reminds me of an opinion piece in the newspaper. Maybe that’s what Synpotico was going for. I feel like I’m watching an episode of He-Man at the very end when he gives kids advice on making right choices. Bonkers…

I think Elder provides some good contrary opinions, which foster good discussion. Sometimes Im not a fan of the tone or whatever but thats my deal.Β

What I was getting annoyed at was every thread getting derailed into the same topics. So this isolates it. I do actually enjoy reading the back and forth on it, but not in every thread.Β

I dont like clicking "unread content" seeing 2022 prospects and 2023 prospects thread, and both are the same discussion about Rees not being able to recruit. That was tiring and frustrating to me.Β

I absolutely wouldn't try and censor or take out the discussion, and looking back upon the original post, my sarcasm and point probable came across as sour grapes, but this is actually going down the intended path for me.Β

An outlet for the discussion, while also keeping it contained to a thread. I don't like to mute people, as I find it flawed. This was my solution.Β

Β

Oh absolutely. I’m with you in every sense of the word. I don’t get the whole mute and banning of people. If we all had the same opinion why would we have this forum? Β BUT, like you said, the off discussion topics de-railing threads can be annoying.Β
Now, if you are calling people idiots and dumb just because they have a difference of opinion…that’s where I start drawing the line. Be respectful and voice your opinion! Β

Bad faith arguments are not "good contrary opinions." Nor is it a civil discussion when he derails threads and changes topics. That is why there is a thread for him. That is why I put him on the ignore list (I deal with the worst/most annoying people in society on a daily basis, I dont need it here as well) and that is why he was suspended.

This thread is a good idea, let him vent. But people saying "why mute/ban him" seem to forget that there is plenty of disagreement on this board between members every day that does not rise to the level of Elder. There is a significant difference.

I actually agree with him that Angeli will probably never see the field at Notre Dame, especially if ND lands Dante Moore!!!

we saw your intended path, so we did not shut it down. That said we won't allow any personal attacks on any other member, that we know about, its a members responsibility to report personal attacks to us, BUT to us that was NOT I repeat NOT your intended path. As long as the thread stays civil in its current state, the thread will remain.Β

Where’s Rees? This is unacceptable, the most important player in the β€˜23 class and what is he doing?Β

I never said at this point in time he was better, only that he had a higher ceiling and that’s true. Buchner was not elite 11 QB and while he may not have the pure arm strength, he still has a good arm, mixed with far better mobility.

This is real life, not the movie Rudy. Take your fairytale bs elsewhere. Allen’s other offers were from Rutgers, Wisc, IU, Cincy, Kansas, Va Tech, WV. That’s not at ND’s level, sorry if that offends you, but ND is out to win games not fulfill your dumb fantasies.

They were still good power 5 offers.Β  Not a fairytale. Not Rudy. Remember its ok to agree to disagree and be nice about it. I need you to work on that please.

They weren’t β€œgood” (I use that as a relative term). They’re all lower tier P5, excluding Wisconsin which is just awful at recruiting QBs. Even though he’s better than Angeli, neither are good enough to play at ND.Β

I know your upset that Rees is not in that picture. Don't let the frustration carry over on to how you post with other posters.

Let me tell you a story

Β

My friend Mike a Physical Therapist got me to be an ND fan told me about Ron Powlus and we drew plays because I didn't want to to do physical therapy for my CP. Sent my ugly drawings to Holtz, Holtz wrote back with a signed football. Ron Powlus was larger then life too me. In ND lore he's not viewed as good enough.

Β

Mike took his son to a Charlie Weis camp and didn't have a good experienceΒ

Β

Mike's son has a law degree from Penn State. Until Mike's death a few years ago he followed Penn State.

Β

The thing I want to get across @ELDER06Β is give people reasons to LOVE ND. Don't encourage ND fans to switch teams.

You cannot pick one recruiting trip and project it to represent an entire year's effort. I also do not know all of the rules about school visits and if there is a limit on how often a particular coach can be at a given school.Β

In any case, given that I have never recruited a high school athlete, I will hold off judging individual tactics like who is participating in one school visit and just wait to see how future classes end up.

That’s all fine for you, but I don’t get caught up in the theatrics. I don’t care if ND’s HC is a nice guy or not. The two best football coaches in the world are gruff & unlikable, but so what? As long as the coach isn’t a true scumbag loser (Petrino, Kiffin, Freeze), I don’t care about anything he does that’s not football related.Β

Thats fine. Just remember some do. There is more then 1 way to be a ND football fan.
