Posted January 1, 20222 yr comment_742627 We need a WR coach to show them how to get of the LOS when they get jammed, get open, come back for the ball, and catch the ball. Need an OL coach to instill some toughness and killer instinct, teach to run block. Need a DB coach to teach how to defend a pass. Need any coach to teach how to break down and tackle the damn ball carrier.
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742697 ND biggest weakness and it has been for 20 years is secondary play. We don’t have a corner who can play man v man, not one. When your cbs can’t play man, it makes the DC call plays accordingly. ND next step and freeman will get them over that hill, is recruiting secondary guys who can play that tough sec man v man defense. Cincy has two all American corners who both held their own last night vs Bama. Freeman will bring that to ND.

January 1, 20222 yr comment_742708 Everything but tight end. This roster is nowhere near as good as many think. the d line is invisible outside of Foskey. The linebackers are so slow. Sanders was faster than our corners and safeties… o line can’t run block for shit. Not a ton of separation from wideouts and running backs can’t make anything happen because we can’t run block.
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742714 Yeah this team still played pretty well up to their potiental which I thought was pretty limited after the Toledo game. 1. qb 2 lb 3 OL COACH 4. CORNER 5. experience
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742723 Corners and linebackers. The tackling today was just embarrassing. Probably an elite WR too. Lenzy is too weak. But there is some potential in the others.

LBs over pursue, CBs no discipline, and generally poor tackling. Almost like we didn't maintain our defense discipline from the end of the season. Why is that?????????????
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742738 Oh, and Cam Hart is a stud. That's why I don't think its on the coaches. We've developed good secondary players.

Our linebackers have struggled in space all year. Bauer and Bertrand had a lot of chances. Hopefully Marist is healthy and sneed pans out
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742770 Thankfully the LB class coming is very, very good. They have a chance to make noise as frosh. Corners though? Not looking pretty.
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742784 Gut punch today. No way to sugar coat it. Yes, there were coaching decisions to question but as I see it, not enough game changing players. Need difference maker QBs and more difference making WRs. OL and RBs are really good or will be really good. Better DBs and LBs would have made the difference today. Good news, they will be there in the future. Arrow definitely pointed up but I would have preferred to start that journey with a win today!!!
January 1, 20222 yr comment_742797 You need a stud at each level of the defense and ND is missing one big time at LB. They also have a major liability at corner with Lewis. OSU picked on that dude mercilessly today. I'd love to see a snap by snap count of how many times he got beat. On the offensive side of the ball the line is atrocious. It says something when you have freshmen bookends because they haven't been screwed up yet by the line coach. No push in the run game and how many times does a 3 man rush get pressure? Ridiculous. I don't know if he has any eligibility left, but absolutely Cain Madden should not be allowed back. That dude hurt his NFL prospects this year. Wow. Also on offense WR is seriously lacking. Kevin Austin has flashes, but he is way too inconsistent. Losing so many to transfers is indicative of a position coach problem in my opinion. While the loss was disappointing it could be expected I guess. I genuinely think Kyren would have made a difference and definitely Hamilton would have as well.
January 2, 20222 yr comment_742834 Bowl games are a little weird now. When your best players sit it does create a odd player situation
January 19, 20222 yr comment_744727 1. I didn’t even care about the bowl game honestly. But what we truly need now imo is an elite corner. Just one to cover that side of the field. 2. Speedy shifty receiver. I mean a Rondale Moore type. No reason ND still hasn’t found one in over 12 years. Or whenever Tate left. 3. A great Defensive Coordinator. Can’t rely on Freeman to do both. Too tough to do these days. 4. More talent at qb. Need to be the most talent on the depth chart. Right now it might be the weakest I’ve seen in a long time. Sorry guys there…
