Staff needs to embrace who Lenzy is too. Hand him the ball on sweeps, let him receive screens in the slot. They shouldn't throw him a ton of jump balls. Now i do agree better technique, to win off the

I’d like to think Freeman ‘s  coaching was strategic. Pushing everyone to their limits to see what those were. Our lack of depth (and talent at certain positions) became so obvious as the game went on, yet Freeman didn’t try to slow anything down or make any substitutions.

Our lack of depth was indeed obvious at WR, LB and Secondary.

Austin leaving hurts. We’ll be thin for another year.  So let’s hope we can build the running game over the summer.

That said: was surprised at the dropoff at RB as well. Looks like Kyren pushed everyone to be better.  Without him, we lose 2 more games this year easy. He kept drives alive all by himself.

What happens if Cam Hart gets hurt again?  Even crazier drop-off, can’t even imagine the drop-off after Lewis…

You might be on to something.  Just stunning how poor the defensive recruiting was until Marcus came along.  It definitely exposed a lot with just a few players out (Hamilton and Hart).

Definitely appears that defensive recruiting dipped during Lea's tenure.

Some chatter from minor sources that Foskey is planning to return. Sampson tweeted decision will be made on or by 1/8/22.

I hope that is his decision.

Because this doesn't sound like he is staying.

Some insiders have said he is leaving, some insiders have said he is staying.... It's 50/50, unless something has changed in the last hour or so.

As Big mentioned in another post. If he’s just there to offer depth and play as swing tackle and/or guard, I guess. Was thinking it would be best if he moved and ND moved on given his injury history.

Depth is always a great thing. Take him bake in a heart beat. Move him inside. Try him out at center Paterson leaves. Whatever he is another body with six years of college weight training and a solid lineman.

Looks like Foskey is returning. Not sure if or how credible this is, but if true this is huge news.

It's only been reported by ND prime publicly, it seems like there's a lot of uncertainty re: Foskey's status. Hope he returns, balls out, and goes in the 1st round.

Would this be a smoking gun for the Hiestand rumors?

Its no secret what my opinion of that guy is on here but he does come with all of his accolades and shiney NFL draft picks.

Why do you have an issue with him again? His lines were pretty damn good while he was here and he has many NFL draft picks.

I’m in his boat. I remember getting great recruits but they always looked more finesse than power. Lining up to get one yard always seemed impossible. BUT, I’m curious if that’s Kelly’s offense and teaching rather than Hiestand’s technique. I’m willing to give it another chance just from that.

It will be interesting to 1) combine HH's technique with Ballis' S&C results. and 2) See what changes to his run-based scheme Rees will make in 2022 given the "one foot in and one foot out" zone read with non-running QBs that we saw when HH was around.
