I don't really know anything about the kid other then he was a starter at Auburn and he'd be a grad transfer. I've seen it discussed on here about bringing in another QB. What does everyone think of this kid? Do we give him a look? Curious everyone's thoughts.

I’d pass. Every game I ever seen him play on tv he was barely a 50 percent passer either over throwing the ball or scrambling for his life. Now this was against top school but he looked way over matched.

I would. Coan Worked out. Don't know if ND will. I'd make the best roster possible every year.

Bo Nix would not improve our roster... hard pass

I kinda get the feeling that if we bring in another grad transfer,   it could hurt future recruiting..    gotta trust in who we recruit and their abilities or risk future recruits not fully trusting Notre Dame system.   Once in a while, yes I get it..  wouldn't make a habit of it though .. just my opinion...  roll with who you recruit!!

Agreed. Looks like a resounding No. I trust your judgments. Thanks.

Except pass isn’t something we haven’t seen Buchner do.

We have and he threw a good ball, just made a freshmen mistake once or twice. The more you discuss QB play, the more you sound like your bias overrides any critical thinking.

He made two huge mistakes. Im also concerned the staff doesn’t let him throw when he is in the game. It makes me think he’s way behind on his development as a passer.

He's fine in his development.  Apparently looked good in bowl practice.  He'll have another game coming up soon then 9 months of first team reps

He is the running QB to compliment the passing QB... his package (since Coan is the starter) is literally to be the running QB.

But they hardly run any RPOs when he is in there. It makes me think the staff knows something they’re not telling us.

I want to see him throw the ball out of their base Offense. There’s so much riding on his ability to develop as a QB, I’d feel much better about the programs near term prospects if I could see him run the regular Offense.

The offense we run next year will not look like this years offense.

So the regular offense you see now is not the regular offense you will see next year

What’s going to change? More RPOs & vertical passing?

Obviously way more RPOs. That will be a huge part of our offense.  Throwing vertical because Buchners arm is much stronger.

Using his legs to move the pocket and throw will be added I'm sure.

You can be so much more creative with Buchner
