I feel like ND has won so much lately(25 at home), I think like 12 regular season games now, we are waiting for a rain storm and almost trying to be the one that predicts when it happens. The teams fighting and clawing to hang on and we're just waiting to see if they'll climb up or fall down.

One thing I will caution everyone is dark clouds sometimes pass without a storm,

We could also witness a big storm.  Either way there will be lots to talk about.

I think we're due a big storm... Looking at this team I see 5 losses and then a slight recovery next year with only 2-3 losses. Our Oline is a mess and I really do not see much improvement this year due to injuries and new players. We have had a nice run for awhile but I compare it to Liverpool soccer team. They had a 68 game unbeaten streak or so at home and then they lost and everything went to crap for awhile (lost a few in a row). Now they are readjusting and improving and on a ten game unbeaten streak..

Good points. Everything you said is fair and well reasoned. I'm on the fence. This team has some serious potential along with some serious potential problems. I think many people are the wait and see. I admire you for sharing your opinion.

I think it gets stormy with FSU in the opener.  It's not at its nadir yet, but we're in a storm.

I agree with Cali to an extent. I think we survive a few close games. But when ND loses it cause a few losses. That and I think injuries pile up this season.

i mean...they were lucky to escape FSU with a win and if Toledo played smarter on the drive they scored they would have won.  ND could have easily been 0-2 instead of 2-0.

This season could be a perfect storm. New D coordinator, Oline depth is questionable and a run of games that are all losable.

With the way that we have started all these games are toss-ups. If we lose this week I fear a snowball effect could occur.

It's pretty obvious what lies ahead, but I think this team will start to play harder from the first whistle and the coaches will start honing in on what they can do and eliminate what they can't do well.

I'm going to say a 9-3 season but I think 10 wins is achievable.

Very easily could be 6-6 but I am gonna go with the 9-10 win range.

It's great to get 2 wins where you can learn a lot about your team to start the season. They know they can make plays when it counts, and now they just have to start the game with my hairs on fire mentality and play like someone smacked their momma.

No longer do they think they can just whip people with the golden helmets. They can lose to everyone on the schedule and beat everyone on the schedule.

Florida State classic taxing match up Sunday night to catch Toledo on a short week expecting an easy victory (trap game) so I'm not reading too much into the transitive analysis of why they suck, but I do think they suck and can get better to finish strong.

Low 80s and 15% chance of rain this weekend.

I think PU will be storm free.

The next week after though, 50% chance of Thunderstorm Warning.

This is going to be an interesting week. Usually the most progress is made from weeks 1-2, but an away game and a short week may have limited the available work. So, how we look this weekend will tell us a lot. If the same problems are there, it’s not going to be a good sign. And even with that Purdue is the 3rd straight not near elite program.

ND is committed to a two QB rotation. So, it’s going to be interesting to see how that works out this weekend and going forward to solve the offenses problem. The D has another week to show that Freeman’s scheme can work with the available talent. One crucial change needs to be limiting big plays. We’ll see.

Besides the big play given up by the defense, what will you be looking for the most against Purdue?

I’ll be watching the o-line and seeing if they are firing off the ball. Also, interested in seeing if they chip with a TE or RB to help the left tackle.

I’ll be looking at defensive intensity and tackling, how Purdue defends Buchner, and like you looking for improvement/adjustments with the o-line.

I saw this past weekend that Wisconsin Cinci VT USC And UNC are all coming off bye weeks before they play UND.

Where ya at Jack? This a bit ridiculous bud..

I've never been a fan of his scheduling as it seems UND gets put in some tough scheduling spots due to it's mid terms scheduling etc.

I've always felt he needs an asterisk by the open agreement with Navy. We'll play you in front of our mid terms and bye week for as long as you want. I remember back when UND wasn't that good coming out of Weis years early BK at one time UND was 1-7 or 1-8 the week after dealing with chop blocks from Navy.

I just think with their own TV network and relative independence they could work out a slightly better deal for the team to achieve success. Shit play a week zero game and insert two off weeks..?
