He was a bit tone-deaf to the current climate where everything is offensive when he made that comment and we just lost a bunch of Americans in the Afghan conflict.. I think coach is hilariously candid but I grew up not being an overly sensitive p***y. Also I learned that you have to accept responsibility for your actions and words.

Like Trent Dilfer had to apologize for throwing that kid around, Brian Kelly is likely going to have to issue some sort of apology.

Cancel culture is a virus.

Come on.  It’s a joke.  The team won’t be so fragile, hopefully

I’m not surprised it’s news, but it’s completely manufactured outrage.

When he said it, you knew that "journalists" & media networks were going to run with it...

Can't believe how many ways Kelly can get in his own way. Just another unforced error there.

The media, or as I call them the "outrage machine", is just doing what they do... It's not journalism anymore, it's who can outrage the most and get clicks.

Cancel BK, cancel the Leprechaun... next, they'll want to cancel the Shamrock because it's not inclusive of 4 leaf clovers.

This is a nothingburger... I liked BK's response...

"It's an old John McKay quote," Kelly told reporters in Tallahassee. "I was kidding. It was tongue-in-cheek. It wasn't funny? ... I was talking and making a joke about it. It was taken serious? Are you people crazy?"

"It's a John McKay quote that he used after a game," Kelly said. "I was stealing one of his old quotes and being funny, because nobody likes to be funny anymore. If you want to take me to town on that, please do."

Just stay away from quoting people at 11 o'clock at night coach

Disagree.  To be an unforced error, it has to be an error.  It wasn’t.  It’s comedy or brutal honesty.  Either way, there was nothing wrong with what he said.

Fair enough. I just think Kelly's not a guy to talk too immediately postgame and the media contracts demand it. He had one with like Erin Andrews and 1 with Kathryn Tappen that I remember. I just wish he'd take the Bill Belichick approach, "Good Game, Good Win, Good-Bye"

It was an error.  His response was much better than his delivery on the McKay line.  Kelly is not that funny and does not have good comedic timing.

I would take more offense to his McKay line(which, I don’t actually) them to when people used to complain about his yelling. It was refreshing during the game when he got pissed about the running into the kicker call. He’s human, he has the right to vent when the refs job you on a call.

The funny thing is that he thinks he's hilarious. He's clearly a dick which I also think is funny.

I'm somewhat eccentric myself so those qualities are not off-putting to me.

I don't really see him as a dick, just a typical late 50s guy from Massachusetts lol

He was a lot lighter hearted before ND. Being a HC at ND, especially these days, changes you.

The comments IMO were a huge nothingburger.

The outrage is outrageous.  The lack of skin in this country these days is fucking pathetic.  Nothing but a bunch of pussies running around everywhere.  Everyone wanting to be offended by something.  Pussies.

Your outrage at the outrage, is triggering me. I'm finding myself outraged now.

Hope you picked up on my sarcasm lol..

I think I need a coloring-book break. You should find your play-doh and head to your safe space.

lol

What's wrong, @ndfanatic78, did I hurt your feelings?
