He did not commit but he is a solid bet to commit in the future.

landing him would be huge, would be hands down the best MLB recruit since Manti Teo.

Don’t like the early info gives me flashbacks of the Eddie Vanderdoody recruitment SNAFU.

Thankfully, EVD was as much of a loss as Omar Hunter.

Does a 5 second forty not concern anyone for a LB?

In college? Not really. Manti combined 4.8, after years in ND's S&C and I don't think anybody would punch many holes in his production for us.

FWIW, that 40 time is slow BUT he was a sophomore I believe at that time. He is working hard on his speed and lateral movement. FWIW, Teo ran a 4.82s 40 at the combine. If this kid has Teo like instincts...welcome home son...welcome home.

Is that real? If true, that is horrifying. HS measurables are inflated if anything. So if it says 5.0, it's probably worse. I have a hard time believing a 4*, No. 1 ILB runs a fiver.

Yeah, I can’t see that being the case. There’s no way Recruiting services would let that slide.

This 40 business seems like a fat nuthin-burger to me. The data on HS 40 times is notoriously unreliable on both sides (over and under representing actual speed). Plus, of all positions where 40 speed is less of a concern, collegiate MLB is gonna be pretty high on that list. Certainly great to have, but as I mentioned before, Manti was a living embodiment of how effective one can be in college with slower speed/agility vs. pros. He was in the running for the Heisman and has never been a consistent first stringer at the next level. I mean, Steve Filer ripped a 4.6 off prior to college and it didn't translate to the field.

Watching his film, this kid probably could add some speed but he still looks incredibly productive and he plays in one of the most competitive conferences in the US. I sure hope we're lucky enough to land him.

It’s listed on his 247 page. Was timed at the Open, but like another poster said it was from his Sophmore year so who knows now and maybe he was having an off day.
