Nothing shocking here but ND plans to honor its previous agreements and play 5 ACC games going forward.

I might be in the minority on this board but that makes me happy. I don’t want football program to join a conference. I don’t think it will benefit them in any way. I do enjoy playing a wide variety of teams and not be beholden to a conference schedule.

Not to be snarky but did I miss something that was stated we were not going to be? I know we had a fun year (mostly) in the ACC but I have heard nothing that said we were leaning toward making it permanent.

i debated even bothering to make a thread about it but some fans really liked being in a conference

I enjoyed it considerably. I would not be totally against joining in full.

I think your in the majority. Subway Alums.. The tradition established by Rockne taking his team by train to Southern Cal.

Again I debated making a thread BUT I enjoy talking to you all about ND so I did.

I used to be an independence or death person but this relationship with the the ACC has changed me. We are half pregnant it seems with this quasi-independence. I cannot call us a true independent anymore (BYU and Liberty, Army are true indies) when a conference dictates nearly half your schedule. Then on top of this we have three locked games already with Navy, USC and Stanford. Therefore, what we truly are talking about is the four games that are left. One of those games is a buy game versus a MAC level team. SO subtract one more and then we now are down to 3 games of true "independence". Three games for a schedule that is already watered down seems hardly worth it. We could still schedule USC, Georgia and Navy even if we were in full.

This quasi-independence is kind of lame. We get very little benefit (less money and less access to playoff's most years) all for the glory of declaring we are (quasi) independent. Personally I believe it is a farce and purly a dip of the toe to keep the traditionalist happy.

Maybe that will stir some discussion.

We have always had 2 or 3 ACC games on the schedule and now we have 5 and we have Navy, USC and Standford. So we get 4 more games, GA in the past, OS soon, WI now, TX in the past. I mean we get a lot of good teams coming in. I like our arrangement with the ACC. It really seems like there are a lot of teams that would like a 2 game matchup with us. It all makes for a great schedule.
