Elder....I will join Rocketsan with my last post about this,,,clearly.. empathy , compassion, concern for your parents, collective responsibility, duty to the healthcare workers on the front line, the many younger people who have suffered death and damage from this blight etc etc all the many obvious, sound reasons that have triggered social distancing world wide,,,none of that seems to break through to you.....so I who am in your throwaway demographic over 60, those that just aren't worth the sacrifice....let me offer one last reason to wait and phase in economic activity AFTER we gain substantive control over this virus with social distancing....you may see our demographic as a waste of life anyway, locked away in nursing homes....but that's not really the full picture,,,actually by HUGE margins,,,the over 60 demographic controls the majority share of wealth and power in this society :-P....so the message from us to you is SUCK IT UP!

The country is so grateful to the healthcare workers who have shown such dedication and courage during this pandemic, I don't know if I would share those traits in their position...much respect!!

I have nothing but respect for the elderly and by no means am I suggesting they’re disposable. However, I don’t think we should sacrifice our economy when the VAST majority of young people in the workforce aren’t at any real risk. I’d say you guys are the ones lacking in empathy for the 25 mm ppl who lost their jobs. You guys keep saying there’s tons of ppl under 60 who died from this and it’s not true. What is a fact, 3000 ppl under the age of 50 died from the flu last year and nobody was worried about it then.

I’m very thankful to not have kids and still have a job. However, for those of you chastising me, go back to when you were 40. I imagine most of you had a family. Now think about being in this situation where you lose your job and nobody in your field is hiring. Why? Bc there’s an increased risk people over 65 might die from this new infectious disease. Well, you’re not 65, you’re young and healthy, what are the risks to you? You have less than a 2% chance to die from it. Wouldn’t all of you gladly take that 2% risk if it meant getting back to work and supporting your family?

And the football season starting on time affects this scenario in no rational way.

It does, bc there’s a lot of jobs dependent on those football games. ND has the $ where they’ll be fine, but imagine the hit to the economy of Athens, GA or Starkville, MS if there’s no season.

I'm 36, have 3 kids and my business has been decimated beyond belief. We will keep things going to the best of our ability but it's about survival mode now.

And I still support the current measures. We will get back on our feet in good time but I prefer to know that the correct precautions are being taken before jumping back in two footed and end up right back where we started. Football can be played behind closed doors for the season. It will be weird but it's most likely going to be what happens.

But there’s a vocal group of ppl that believe we should be shutdown until there’s a vaccine. That would very likely be 1.5-2 yrs. Do you honestly think you could hold on that long?

I am 42, have 3 kids and I think this is insane. But I am playing along for now. I also can work from home.

No chance. One more week and i'll be looking for orphanages.

But it's not about a final, all inclusive solution. The purpose of restraint now is to slow the spread until states are in a position to deal with this via PPE and testing. It's not a vaccine or nothing. Things will begin to open up slowly soon.

I can even understand waiting another month and opening mid May. However, there’s going to be a material amount of ppl who will **** and moan about reopening without a vaccine. Those are the people I have real issues with. They complain about the economy opening up too soon but don’t offer any realistic timetable.

I don’t think the current measures in most states are “insane”(excluding Michigan), but there has to be a tangible plan to get back to work. I too work from home, but I have empathy for all the small businesses and employees who lost their jobs. All of these azzholes grandstanding with ideas this is the apocalypse need to grow some balls.

I’m 47...closing in on 48 fast. My kids are all young, 14, 13, and 6 very soon. This is scary...I listed a bunch of stuff earlier here. In Philadelphia numbers are still rising but the talk is opening back up.

Someone is lying...I still don’t know which side is.

But with the way things are moving we will find out.

Either Trump is sacrificing lives for a big economy which will get him re-elected or this is overblown in hopes of derailing the economy which is the only way Trump will loose.

I don’t know and I’m hoping I don’t know someone who will pay the price either way.

This is/was a free country, we all have a right to decided what is best for ourselves. You talk about the one guy you know who got it, what about all of these athletes who got it and fully recovered in a few weeks? Everyone is difft, but I’m done living in a f’n police state indefinitely bc you guys are scared. Your last paragraph about Trump is exactly why your opinion isn’t worth listening to. You care more about using this to say “orange man bad” than point out the original source of the issue. This is f’n China’s fault and you guys have TDS so bad, you’ll do anything to turn this on him. It’s like being more upset with the firefighters response time then the arsonist who burned your house down.

Under other circumstances you might be right. But when dealing with a virus that can be asymptomatic in many while lethal in others, you don't (and shouldn't) have the right to unknowingly spread the disease by likening it to something ss tangible as other clearly defined rights.

Youre being asked to stay at home because you might not even know you have it while you could be ingorantly passing off something that could be deadly to someone else...for reasons that the world's premiere health experts cant answer yet.

Give yourself a haircut, be happy the liquor stores and considered essential, and shut the fu(k up.
