FOOTBALL SIGNINGParris

Ignatius WR will attend Notre Dame

Tuesday, July 12, 2005

Eddie Dwyer

Plain Dealer Reporter

Notre Dame and its new coach, Charlie Weis, continue to tap into the football talent at St. Ignatius High School.

Wildcats wideout Robby Parris, one of the top receivers in the Midwest, told Weis on Monday that he will accept a scholarship to play for the Fighting Irish.

The 6-4, 190- pound Parris will join St. Ignatius' standout defensive end John Ryan under the Golden Dome. Ryan committed to Notre Dame last month. Parris and Ryan will sign national letters of intent during the NCAA's signing period in February 2006.

Welcome to Notre Dame Robby Parris.

I didn't know much about Parris before he committed. After reading up, I'm definitely excited about this guy. He apparently has fly-paper hands and can leap. Something like 22 YPC? We need another receiver who can get up and grab the jump ball. Welcome aboard!

I didn't know much about Parris either other than him being a team mate and friend of John Ryan. This was indeed another fine catch for Notre Dame. Last year Parris caught 40 passes for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns. Has been timmed in the 40 in 4.55 seconds.

Now we need to get some five star, O. Linemen.

Indeed, we do. I have only followed recruiting closely the past couple of seasons, but I have noticed that the "skill position" players tend to commit earlier than the lineman. I am 100% confident that Weis will get his guys at the line positions. It also seems that the current recruits are working the phones pretty hard to get linemen in here (Aldridge, Frazer, etc.) Do you know of anyone (line) leaning towards the Irish?
