Guest IrishTobey
the hype being given towards ND for this game. they beat a grossly overrated Pitt team and Michigan yawned their way through Northern Illinois and now everybody that said ND was a bunch of irrelevant, racist, no-talent, hacks are now saying Weis is a genius and ND has talent. It's one win over an overmatched over-rated team. Don't get me wrong I'm glad ND is getting some positive press but lets not forget last year. ND gets beat by BYU and looked horrible and a week later beat a Michigan team that was a 2 TD favorite. Alot can happen in a week. Let's hope people are right but I need to see it to believe it. It just makes me a little nervous that's all.
Guest Snatchy_McPants
Tobey, we all have that built-in nervousness thanks to the previous two coaching staffs. It's why we've been collectively nervous against the likes of Navy, BC, Syracuse, BYU, etc. Games we shouldn't be nervous about. I'm balancing my nerves with my utmost respect for CW. I have to assume that he can coach away the let-down that we fear. Behind CW, I stand ready to watch the IRISH play the way we know they can. Guest SirJohn
If I can jump in on this. I wasn't nervous before the Pitt game except for defense and am not really now for Mich. Going into the Pitt game I read some things about ND. I guess you can say I sold my soull to Weis? Now I have followed Notre Dame since the 60's. I have seen Ara and I have seen Holtz. I have seen the teams, win and lose. Now watching all that football I have never-ever seen a Notre Dame team like this before under any Coach no matter how high you want to rate him. There is no word for it except this was not OLD Notre Dame. Not even an improved-new Notre Dame. This team is somthing to just sit back watch and enjoy. Coach Weis and staff have manufactured something that's incredible. It will just take time for some who were not watching 60's on to assimulate. Guest IrishTobey
Totally agreed!! Something special is happening at ND. I started following the Irish when Fauts (sp?) was there. My favorite player as a kid was John Carney believe it or not. Even though I did not get to watch the first half I saw the opening drive of the 3rd quarter. 20 plays, 80 yards and a TD. My legs went numb. My brother kept saying he's never seen ND play like this. I've just had my heart broke 2 many times. MSU in 98 a week after ND spanked Michigan, BYU in 2004, BC in 2002, Oregon St in 2000, Pitt last year, on the list goes on. Like all of you I can't help but think this time is different. GO IRISH!!! Guest SirJohn
Tobey ys. I am sorry the youngers never got to see that old ND. I'm completely happy with 2005. My daughter 19 who viewed it has always relide on the Old Man to cue her in. "What's the play?" (Last year I was seldom wrong the coaches were that G awful at predicting. Somewhere in DD I posted if I can sit in front of a TV and correctly guess a pass or run what do you think a Coach on the field can do? Somewhere in the first Q I quit guessing and remarked only. I don't know what the H they are going to do isn't that wonderful more so cause Pitt didn't
Guest IrishTobey
I love it!!! I know what you mean about guessing the plays. I never played football and I could guess about half the time what they were going to do. Usually it was a 5 yard out pattern on 3rd and 7 My favorite from the last 3 years was every time they were going to run the ball the fullback would go into motion and slide along the O-line and the play would always go to where the fullback went. I would scream at the TV they are running to the left or right and they always did. ND had to be the easiest team in college football to study film on the last few years. Change is in the air baby!!!!!!!!
