I will be blunt, Heggarty and Elmer were awful today. I'm not sure what McGlinchey has to do to see the field, but it's clear that Elmer isn't living up to his hype (Sam young part 2)

I'm ready for Montelus or Hanratty inside too...

Somebody wanna tell me I'm wrong ?

My nephew referred to him as Sheggarty...kind of gave a disapproving chuckle to that one

Get Montelus in there, if you think guys behind might not be better than you are close minded and blind. That's why we have guys step in routinely and do better. Shumate, Redfield, Luke, Schmidt, Jones.... the list goes on.

I didn't get to see the three games before this because I had games myself but who has been the weakest of the bunch Hegarty or Elmer. There's tons of top recruits in the two deep give them a chance.

Hanratty is next in...

I will be honest, Lombard isn't setting the world on fire either...

I think its the coaching. Too many top ranked guys not getting the job done.

Because the last few years didn't see us hangin' from said coach's jock.

Yeah, tell that to Chris Watt, Zach Martin, Tony Pashos, David Diehl, Marques Sullivan, Dallas Thomas, Zach Fulton, JuWan James, Antonio Richardson and Olin Kreutz...

Thought Elmer was supposed to be NFL ready in no time.

Needs to hit the weight room and play Right tackle...Stanley is a top 50 pick in this year's draft where Elmer actually projects best is Left Tackle...I still put him as a 5th round pick in two years, just not there yet

I think he will eventually get it together. Played very well last year at guard. I thought the line played better overall today, but Elmer and Hegarty definitely had some head scratching plays.

It takes some time to build some chemistry in a line and we've been spoiled by having a consistently solid line for a few years now. That said, not every recruit will turn out as advertised, that's just a football fact of life. Sam Young is a good example of a fairly high rated recruit who was solid yet unspectacular in college.

Elmer has been underwhelming at best this season but I'd give the young man some time to develop.

I just hope we don't tinker with the line too much more at this stage of the season. It takes linemen time to gel together and we're past the stage for experimentation unless an injury forces the coaching staff's hand.

Most of those top rated guys are sophomores and freshmen still...

If you want Hanratty back, you're wrong. Go watch the Purdue game. He was awful, and Stanford isn't Purdue.
