Wow ASU doesn't tackle. Anybody else watching this game? Offense will put some pressure on our D, but they couldn't tackle my grandma tonight.

If ND finishes undefeated, they will be in the playoff.

"crumbling" strength of schedule?

there's plenty of quality wins to be had (if they can win them)

and SOS only matters if ND wins

look around at schedules, teams lose, everyone can't be undefeated.

Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating (about ND's schedule, not my grandma). But I sure thought one of the three — ASU, USC, or Stanford — would be undefeated when we played em.

Jeez is the Pac 12 ever soft this year minus Stanford, I actually think Utah might be one of the better teams.

Outside of Alabama and Oklahoma noones looks like anything special this year, I'd also bet atleast one of them makes the playoffs.

I even think we can get in with one loss, but that's hoping it's vs a team like Stanford and close.

Strength of schedule IS NOT a serious concern IMO.

In reality the more WEAKNESS shown by our upcoming opponents will directly increase our chances of having a 10/11 win season --& increase the small shot we have at the tournament.

Wishing that every team we play is an undefeated or one loss juggernaut, is a death wish---

We play so many strong programs , if they were all PEAK TEAMS---we would be in over our head. But with so many showing weakness of some kind, our chances of racking up double digit wins is looking much brighter then it did in august.

The more vulnerability I see in the opponents going forward the happier I will be.

Yep...just win.

A loss to anyone dooms the Irish...

Oregon????

Oregon????

Giving up 5 sacks in a half and what, 7 or 8 total to Wizzou is evidence of "soft" IMO. Yes, they score points by the buckets but if we think our OL has issues, theirs was a revolving door that night. Still a good team but they are showing some fissures in the bedrock. Their D didn't acquit themselves all that well during that game either.

It is close to impossible to go undefeated in a season these days...I know FSU beat 9 tomato cans and a couple decent teams last year and two years ago ND was the only team to pull it off in the regular season (without scheduling directional schools and 1AA (FCS) teams); but by and large, teams stub their toe at least once a year...someone plays over their head (Manziel v. 'Bama), a team inexplicably loses at home (K State a couple years back) or the gods align against a better team and they lose to an inferior outfit on that "any given day" (Oregon v Stanford, etc.)

The hand wringing about SoS is silly until we sit at 11-0 heading to L.A. to play a 4 loss USC outfit again...fact is Notre Dame plays Syracuse this week and can only do one thing to help themselves - WIN THE GAME.

Take care of the one thing that a team can handle themselves - WIN THE GAME - and the rest will work out exactly as it did in 2012...the collective vapors of the fans who thought we would be skipped over in '12 is already starting before we have won 1/3 of our games...to channel my inner Al Davis, just win baby...everything else will take care of itself after that.

This is what I've been preaching since the spring...Our SoS was really overrated. We might end up having only played 2-3 ranked teams by seasons end. Hell, I'm leaning toward 2 because I don't think Stanford is going to win 9 games...

PAC-12 is hot garbage.

I'm more convinced every day that there are about 0 real teams out there and the other 128 all have some real problems.

Arizona St gave up 60+. North Carolina have up 70. Golson ought to throw for 65 TDs vs this schedule.

it's becoming more and more apparent that everyone this year is beatable

in the Pac 10 arizona, oregon, oregon st, stanford, ucla, usc and even washington all look good thus far

As you were typing that, I am pretty sure Boston College just ran for another 20yards against USC.

This could be the best thing happening for us. It seems teams across the land aren't living up to the hype and to this point, we are exceeding expectations. We are about to get into the meat of our schedule but this could very well shake out in our favor. An 11-1 Notre Dame, and especially an undefeated Notre Dame, will not be left out of the playoff if there are other 1 loss teams in it.
