Thanks...I didn't know if it was an additional game

Yeah Yahoo Sports said he would have to sit out first half of Syracuse game.

A bunch of yahoos don't know anything about college football I guess...

Ya just to clarify, he would only have to sit out the first half of the next game if he was ejected in the 2nd half?? Isnt that right.

That is the impression that I was under...

I hated this call because just like last year I felt like the Purdue QB moved into the helmet-to-Helmet after Redfield committed to the hit.

Plus, Tommy Rees took a similar hit and got no penalty at all. I hate this damn penalty.

is there an echo in here?

The "targeting" rule is dumb. I understand he technically went helmet-to-helmet, but these guys are taught to hit low so they don't commit penalties and safety reasons. Purdue's made an awkward slide and Redfield was aiming low the whole time.

I understand safety, but to kick kids out of the game when it was clear his intent was not to injure is garbage. It wasn't even careless of him.

Was this in any way necessary?

If this was a bit on Golson and no call was made, we'd all be screaming blue murder...

I think it had to be called, but I do think the QB slid awkwardly and pretty much put his head in the tackle box. I would like to see the rule changed so that the player is either not ejected (just a 15-20 yard penalty) or only has to miss one series, 10 minutes, or a quarter or something at the most.

I agree with this. Based on the rule, I think it had to be called, but it should be revised. I thought it was pretty clear the QB slid awkwardly and made himself vulnerable (not on purpose, but still). Defensive players should be punished so severely for plays like this.

You are on a roll, just about everything you're saying these days, I agree with wholeheartedly. For whatever that's worth :)
