I have concerns. Like to hear the more positive people's views.

Did it seem at all like there was a lack of open receivers, despite some of the bigger gains and 300 yards passing (I might need to go watch the game again)?

And does it seem that our offense still labors to get the points they do? I mean I'm watching the OU v. Louisiana Tech game and maybe LT is not as good as Rice, but OU just makes it look like it's so easy. They look faster. I just use this game as an example but I've seen it in some other games too.

lets post better

I agree much of the passing came off broken plays.

I also agree Kelly looks brilliant 1 series and like he's never seen a playbook the next.

I'm happy for the win and I don't claim to be a coach, it just looks like we struggle at times. There are lots of things to be happy about but we already know and agree on those. I always appreciate a different view.

The OP has a point, OU is up 21-0 in the 1st and making it look easy.

It looks effortless.

My concerns are mostly on the defense. Tackling was an issue, and I think I've been a broken record about that for years now. The communication in the secondary was an issue, and I suppose that had something to do with Collinsworth being out also. Pressure on the QB was spotty.

It is what it is, and this was Rice. The biggest improvements for most teams usually happen between weeks 1 and 2. I think the staff will see plenty of things they need to clean up before next week.

Rice was dropping 8 which is was Navy used to do to Tommy and Dayne Crist, but the difference is that we have Golson who can make a run out of it. There's not a lot you can do otherwise.

Solid first game... We had to get the jitters out.

It seems to me like Kelly wants an offense that can be good at everything, which is fine, but Id rather be great at a few things than good at everything.

I truly hope you have some type of beef with OKLAHOMAIRISHFAN or you're just a sad miserable person.

Geez.

Then don't be a negative Nancy. It was the first game. Be happy they dominated a game they were supposed to dominate. Be happy there were only 2 penalties - both snap infractions. Be happy a lot of backups got playing time. Be happy had a very good return after 600 days. Be happy all 3 running backs showed flashes of brilliance. Be happy this wasn't a UCF repeat. Geez, you get 12 weeks of college football out of 52 in the year. Be happy you get to spend the next week thinking about a WIN. If you're this negative after a win like this, how are you the other weeks of the year?

It looks effortless.

They are ranked #4 and are much better than we are. So, that's probably why.

I thought they moved the ball pretty easy after the first 2 drives. Rice was suppose to have a pretty good secondary and Everett made them look like garbage. My only concern from this game was the inconsistent pass rush.

Yes, without Golson today, this game is probably somewhere in the 21-17 range. I hope people realized today how crucial Golson was to ND's offense and last year would have been way different with him at the helm.

My thoughts as well. Hoping Van Gorder blitzes more to mitigate that. All in all, it's evident that #17 pre-season ranking was way off. Clearly, this is a top 10 team.
