Coach didn't do it.

The fact that Father Jenkins held a press conference and then said that they don't have all of the evidence and whether or not the players were guilty is ridiculous. This should've been kept private and handled by the school before they go and make everyone guilty before a trial/review board determines anything. Total BS and Notre Dame looks stupid for even allowing this grandstanding Priest to speak on this issue. If I were Kelly, I'd finish this season and go pro or to a school that wants to win and has a program in place where players don't have to do stupid stuff just to stay eligible. Say goodbye to every player eligible to go to the draft. ND is going to get what it deserves for this one. Recruits are going to run for the hills. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

Best post that I have seen in a long time I would be shocked if Kelly were to stay here beyond this season. Who would come here and constantly have to deal with this crap?

Meh. Lesar is awful. Correlation does not imply causation.

ND better get a National Championship out of Kelly because they've lost a ton in regards to standards. I don't see him sticking around too much longer.

Damn. Too bad Charlie couldn't coach.

Players will still come, but kelly can't talk about how ND isn't for everyone or how selective he is in recruiting.

Maybe we should :pray2: Diaco or martin have insanely good seasons this year.

I think this actually proves that Kelly is telling the truth when he says ND isn't for everyone—if you're not willing to work hard in the classroom, you don't belong here. For example, Kelly has been raving all summer about how well Cody Riggs fits in at ND, given how important academics are to him.

I've been really impressed with how Kelly, Swarbrick, and Father Jenkins have all handled this situation. It seems like they're all on the same page.

Cody missed a practice to take a final. I think that's a good sign.

The SEC kid is now the model student at ND. Kelly shouldn't recruit those kids who can't handle it. Every year we see a recruit barely getting in after several ACT attempts and some magic from our admissions office.

I guess the question is do we want an elite program that comes with some scandal or a program of high standards but fall short of being elite?

Can't have both. At least it appears that way under CBK.

This guy gets it. It's absurd that anyone would try to pin this on Kelly. What do fans want him to do, sit down with all 85 players while they do their homework? The responsibility lies with the players, nobody else. However, Jenkins pulling a very unchristian move with the presser. TBH, I wish ND would push all this Catholic bs aside. A priest has no clue how to run a university.

Tell that to Father Hesburgh.

Tell that to Father Hesburgh.

I'll say it again, the priests should not be running the school. Knowing Bible versus doesn't qualify you to run the operations of a prestigious university.

I don't think ND had the choice to keep it quiet. It coming out on Friday evening to me is guessing ND knew it would leak and got ahead of it (Friday is usually the day to leak news and hope everybody forgets it by Monday). Could be coincidence - but that would be my guess.

The other reason I think this "grandstanding" Priest spoke is because he is the President of the University ( Savy Jack works for him).

It's laughable to me that you think "Knowing Bible verses" is all it means to be a priest, not to mention that ND wouldn't be prestigious--or, for that matter, a university--without the holy men (and women) who have led it and continue to do so. Seems clear you don't really know what you're talking about.

The ignorance is palpable in this one.
