1. Keep the Coach/Get Extension Done.

2. When do we here about roster attrition? tranfers Etc?, Hendrix interests me, still think hes a good h-back or wildcat guy

Status:

1.(Kelly) At least half Done, Might know more soon.

2. ??????????? on roster attrition

February:

Sign Top 5 recruiting Class

Status:

Had a setback, but still looks very good otherwise, Feb 6th is Signing Day

This is where you improve speed, cause thats a God given talent

(please refer discussion of this part to Recruiting Board )

Spring:

Need to improve depth and weight on the Offensive Line along with replacing Cave and Golic

Alabama proved to me that Offensive Tackles need to be 320 at least, Our version of 300 is not enough for Guards and Centers either. Hit the Iron Men

Also need too add weight and Strength to guys like Golson and Chris Brown.

Golson so he can run some more option. Brown so he can play some more snaps.

Of Course adding more details to veterans knowledge of offense and defense

Mike Linebacker- I like Jarrett Grace

Offense

1. we'll see our Offensive -line will determine success in the BCS

2. Golson looked stronger physically after Bowl Practice, Not sure on Brown

Defense

Mike linebacker - Grace will start with a leg up, but a guy like Deeb could Challenge in fall, or even Carlo or Kendall Moore may move over

Corner

Does someone challenge Russell? like Shumate, Lo Wood, Butler ETC?

So I guess my Offseason list is:

1. Offensive Line

2. Mike Backer and Corner

3. Attrition picks?

4. replace skinny with ripped at all positions (laughing out loud, how vague is that?)

5. move everybody up a level mentally, meaning progress for everybody at their position

Thoughts?

Mine are man that was a lightly organized rant

Our blitz packages need to evolve...would also like the offense to use more up speed tempo....loosen the rope on GOLSON (hopefully gunner can challenge just to give us a best option)......really need some guys to hit the weights in the trenches....the freshman lineman who arrive need to work hard as well very thin depth there.....would like defensive technique in the backfield to improve (mainly in corners).....

Felt like the offense wasn't as good as it could've been this year and also thought the defense was better than it should have been to be honest

On a side note I'm also interested what the defensive line rotation will look like

Great Blitz packaging will happen if our corners can play competitive man to man coverage. I have Faith in Bennett in that area, not sure at the other corner

And

Oddly enough you call blitzes if you score more points, because its a high risk play

Great post yikyak

Let's get more speed on the back end. I want Redfield to start. Shumate looked pretty fast to me in coverage even though he got beat.

Red zone package should include Corey Robinson. Throwing it up for a jump ball to TJ was plain stupid.

We need a power back like Bama. How big is Mahone.

Elmer comes in early and is 305 already. Bama wanted him badly. I want him to start at right tackle.

Ga111 needs to hit the weights.

I wanted to write about Anzalone. I hope Grace is better then anticipated. We need speed here or backs can get to the edge.

Let's develop Niklas as a go to receiver. He has very good hands.

Bring in 4 defensive linemen next year as it is a great year for us to do so.

Keep the offensive linemen coming. At least 4 more next year as well.

This is chicken or egg philosophy. Corners cant cover all day.

true but if you blitz a safety and it gets blocked and the corner gets beat its an 80 yard td if your in zone and rush say 4 its more likely a 20 yard completion.

If you give up 4 20s I realize it does not matter thanks bama:frusty:, but zone is less risky then man in terms of huge plays, thats why dick lebeau refined the "zone blitz" but ca they teach that with the 20 hour rule? Tenuta could not. With more talent like now maybe

"You guys guard this area.." "You guys run after the QB"

That won't work?

All this I agree with. Mahone is not as big as I thought yet here is a fall pic

Can't wait to see Amir Carlisle too

I'm just saying it did not against Bama, we threw everything but the kitchen sink..

Maybe it will with Jaylon and Max.. I'm not saying your wrong, just that we need more athletes and more points to justify the gamble of blitzing and recovering..

I look at it this way--Defense--( despite its collapse against bama) --should be reloaded well--Nix & Tuitt & Day & Springman & Hounshell & Shwenke & Shembo--J JONES--Thats a fine DLINE.--no worries for 2013

Secondary with experience--some hot new freshman--BINDERS FULL OF SAFETIES__:grin:--should be better in 2013

Lots of competition at LB but lots of talent as well---a question mark but not concerning to me--

DEFENSE WILL BE GOOD!

Offense needs the work for 2013---

I exclude Golson actually--given his progress i think its straightforward to expect just through development physically & with experience GOLSON WILL BE A STAR!

Beyond Golson we need work--EVERYWHERE IMHO

1)--Slot reciever---lots of candidates---can't have neal doing nothing at that position for a year---looking for STRONG COMPETITION THERE!

2)--OLINE--needs rebuilding---going to be critical that we do a good job there---

3)--WR looks terrific with DD & TJ but we have lots of candidates and we need a VERY GOOD #3 reciever beyond slot--to get all we can out of Golson

4)--TE--Nicklas--Welch--Koyack--Huerman---something has to be done--- and we really got nothing from Koyack & Welch & only blocking with an occasional penalty & catch from Nicklas---THIS SPOT NEEDS TO FIND AN OWNER FOR THE PASS CATCHING TE & THE BLOCKING TE

5)__RB--personally i am hoping for a healthy carlisle--IMO if he is strong he will start---but we need to organize these players properly and NOT BE AFRAID of going to either of the new Florida backs Folston & Bryant if they can bring POP to the offense----LOTS OF TALENT_-LOTS OF EVALUATION--LOTS OF DECISIONS AT RB!

So IMO defense will be just fine---better in the secondary--as good on the DLINE--some questions with some good answers at LB

Offense needs an OVERHAUL at alot of positions---IMO we will alter our scheme to be more pass oriented but spring will tell the story there.

FINALLY WE NEED TO RETURN A FREAKIN PUNT INSTEAD OF MUFFING THEM!!

aloha's go irish!

We have to turn our PR and KR units into a legitimate weapon, their is no reason with the talent we have that we have to continue our poor play in this area.

Great points as usual, whose behind Neal at slot for you hawaii? just wondering I have like Folston, am I missing a veteran

Great point all those recruited Safeties and OLB's will replace some walk-ons and it will be more of a weapon on ST

With the spread punt and rules for special teams, we really just need to focus on KR. You pretty much have to concede the 40 yard field position unless the punter makes a huge mistake and kicks away from his coverage unit.

I agree with Redfield and Shumate being the two leaders, athletically, for the Safety positions - clearly ND needs more speed in the back end of their defense.

I don't think simply because Corey Robinson has great leaping ability necessarily translates into him being an adept red-zone threat. Moreover, I think Davaris Daniels has potential in the red-zone with his leaping abilities. Ultimately, learning how to play in the red-zone is critical and simply picking out one player is not the answer.

How do you know Bama wanted Elmer? I never knew that Bama had even offered him, let alone wanted him badly. But, I think Elmer has potential to play early as well.

I don't think Elmer even had an offer from Alabama.
