Throughout this process, everyone has been saying BK has asked for additional resources or changes within the program to be able to compete with teams such as Bama. Anyone have an idea on what those could be? Obviously higher pay for himself and his assistants, but what else do you think he wants changed within the program?

I know he's interested in field turf for the stadium - and truthfully, it may not be a bad decision given the Novembers we deal with. We've just listened to a week's worth of discussion based on what happened to RGIII - I'm sure this board would have been on fire if the field was trashed for the Wake Forest game and Te'o's cleat got stuck in the ground. They've done a good job in recent years, but all it takes is 2-3 rainy mud bowls early in the year and a colder than normal November to stunt new growth to screw things up and turn it into a player safety issue.

I wouldn't be shocked if a jumbotron might be on his wishlist too in updating the gameday experience to the 21st century, and in helping to promote more of that raucous gameday experience. Less gripping about people standing up and obstructing views when there's a jumbotron replaying things, and a lot easier to pump up the crowd during intermissions and pre-game.

Given his graduation rates, and seeing the outcome of a guy like Michael Floyd with regards to player misconduct, MAYBE some more leverage with admissions and Res Life? The Tee Shepard thing did blow up in his face, but that had more to do with getting through admissions than getting kids acclimated to Notre Dame and on a path to meaningful success in the classroom.

I too was curious when I saw Facility upgrades... not sure what facility is left to upgrade, unless adding a second tower at ND stadium with suites to expand the stadium, make it louder, and get the older money out of the open air.

By all accounts, the suites they put in at UofM stadium has done wonders with keeping the crowd noise in the stadium.

I've heard him say the stadium needs a jumbotron....,something about Michigan fans staying hyped up during commercial timeouts and nds fans asking the people in front of them to sit down lol.....btw if anyone on here has ever told someone in front of them to sit down at a sporting event....you're a douche

That would be cool... We need to get touchdown jesus a big screen though

I really like the above renderings. I believe they were submitted by an ND alumn-architect.

Upgrading the turf is a good idea...these athletes keep getting bigger and stronger and anything we can do to help protect these kids and thier futures is a good idea.

That is the rational side of me but on the flip side...man I would hate to see Saturday's at ND minus grass stained uniforms. ;)

can Kelly ask for lower academics or special cases?

is there a certain number you can put for Notre Dame compared to other top tier football programs like say SEC schools?

There may be some contrary opinions to the safety of field turf. Not to mention the advantage we have in controlling the length of the grass for some opponents (most notably USC)

I'm just saying there may be opposition, but I have no idea what the additional demands may be... I know many people/businesses would benefit from from the construction contracts and that may be the incentive behind the stories and illustrations making it to the public so readily

I have it on good authority that he just wanted a vending machine in the coaches lounge.

I don't think that was a very big issue. Team speed should not be a concern anymore.

I think the main reason he wants turf is so that players can practice inside the stadium, thus increasing our home field advantage.

If speed is an issue in the future...we got bigger issues than turf conditions.
