I think his first half performance was less than stellar due to the play calling. The deep passes killed his rhythm. I was honestly impressed with how he was playing in the first half, and then the second half came along and he was very impressive.

 

Think about what he was doing. He was playing with zero run game. Alabama knew he was going to pass (yes, alabama that GREAT defense), and he was still having no problem moving down the field in the second half. I honestly think he would have moved the ball down the field in the first half too if we werent taking so many deep shots.

100 times agree.. He is special.. Was impressed wit his individual game tonight.

I disagree. He won't go into camp the indesposable starter. He plays with too much hesitation and inconsistency. People will say its because of his lack of experience, but I would say indecisiveness is a personality trait.

People need to let go of the idea of Zaire playing next year. He will redshirt WITHOUT a doubt. Kiel will get a chance though.

I didnt say he would be an outright starter. Any time you have a 5 star QB behind you, there is a chance you may lose your spot. BUT, he is a freshman. Compare this to Quinn and Clausen's first years. Or even second years for that matter (I understand there was a talent difference on the teams).

 

Regardless, without Golson we would have got smashed this game. Well worse than we already were smashed.

Golson could be very good, but he has to keep working hard, studying film, and learning to be a more decisive QB. The sky is pretty high for him if he can get it done.

 

It doesn't matter who enters spring or fall camp as the defacto starter. Kelly has NEVER made it through a season without using multiple QB's whether its because of injury, performance, or change of pace. I would love to have the problem of Golson as the "starter", Kiel as the next man in, Rees as an experienced veteran option, Hendrix as whatever, and Zaire redshirted.

I'm not sure what season people watched but Golson looks to be the future of Notre Dame football. He's a true freshman who progressively got better throughout the season. He's EARNED the starting nod next year and will get it. Old high school rankings have nothing to do with it.

I have a weird gut feeling that our bad playcalling is a function of his understanding of Kelly's Offense.

by comparison we had 35 yards rushing I believe, It just does not make sense to blame Golson, Sorry, im done on this topic. Only ran 40 some plays, Golson Devaris Eifert and TJ stood out, as contributors so I stand by statement. Blame whoever makes you feel better i guess
