A&M going into 2013 seems to be a force

They lose a ton of talent to the NFL this year

Manziel is a true talent. But Oklahoma's defense it's phenomenal by any means.

And the one thing for any team to win, no matter yards racked up or not, is an offensive and defensive line.

You can have all the offense in the world. but No defense. no championships.

And if Manziel runs around all the time, that's great. But obviously A&M will need a stout defense to continue to compete.

In my mind, the jury is still out in terms of longevity for Manziel. He looks awesome out there, and he had a phenomenal year. Let's see if there is a phenomenal career to follow.

How's that for an obvious sentiment ...

Watching both A&M and now Ole Miss, clean up our opponents makes me nervous. Alabama played both. They barely lost to A&M and crushed Ole Miss. This is not good for ND's prospects.

Our boys better bring their AAA+ game.

Watching him against OU reminded me of Denard Robinson... so many throws were just soft toss lobs with no DB looking for the ball

Don't be a homer. No one likes homers... The fact that you just said he reminds you of Robinson is a huge knock against your football judgement.

These games should make you nervous not because of the points the SEC teams put on the board but by the defensive performances both of which were either better or at minimum equal to Notre Dame's. That's why you should be nervous. Still have to play the game though and Notre Dame wins through solid defense in ugly games. That's how they play, but I would be nervous after those two games.

I'm not being a homer... and I'm not saying Manziel is a bad QB... but you can't say you didn't see a ton of throws that hung in the air way too long, my point was that us ND fans saw Robinson make a ton of those throws against us for 2/3 years... he is definitely more accurate than DRob, but I didn't see much in the area of arm strength... Definitely need good cover corners when you play AM.

Why would watching those games make me nervous? Bama is a great team, I think the game could go either way.

Here's the thing if you can play contain against A&M you can stop their offense....but can any defense do that...one as athletic as South Carolina Florida and LSU might be able to but you will have to be disciplined and fast....manziel is impressive in the open field and out of the pocket....but honestly if you lined up the 120 starting abs in the FBS he may be in the top 10 but I'd play Murray Barkley smith bridgewater and mariota ahead of him...real talk

You didn't see Robinson make a lot of throws like that. You watched Robinson throw the ball right at your defenders with amazing frequency. Manziel doesn't have phenomenal armstrength- he doesn't have a weak arm though.

To beat A&M, you can't make the mistake of thinking you can play man. You have to play a zone defense and get pressure. When you come out in man, he's going to shred the defense on scrambles and runs.

Nervous because of how the SEC defenses from teams that aren't known for defense put up better performances than ND's defense did. That should make you nervous.

I'm not talking about DRob this season man... and the bowl game was the only game I got to watch Manziel in, which is why I said IN THAT GAME he reminded me of what I have seen in DRobs career.

We gave up some big plays to Pitt which we hadn't really done in any other game.

No, I'm not nervous about our D because of bowl games, and no I'm not penciling a W in for ND.

Washington beat Stanford, does that mean you are scared of Washington too?

Ray Graham didnt Play either for Pitt as I didnt watch game but didnt see his Name in the Box score at all. Taking a top 5 Rb off a team that revolves around him offensively is also something worth mentioning.

Quit being a homer!

And quit using common opponents to judge how we'll play or how someone will play against us.

We beat OU, A&M Beat OU by more who also beat BAMA barely so we won't give BAMA a good game or win?

That logic is busted. They play football on grass, not paper comparisons.

Let's just see.

A&M is a difficult team to defend against.

1. JFF's a pretty damn good QB. While some think he's DR, he has a much better arm, and his passing numbers are really good by themselves. But what sets him apart is vision and his ability to run. Some called him Gale Sayers, some called him Messi, but the kid is just a really good runner. Even if he couldnt throw the ball, he'd make an outstanding RB.

2. A&M's RB's and WR's are pretty damn good by themselves. Evans/Swope are incredibly effective and the RB's have been really moved forward over the course of the year.

3. A&M's OL is outstanding. One NFL VP called them the best collegiate line he's seen in 15 years. I agree.

4. Teams that were able to stop them had extremely good front sevens, particularly, at the DE. How tuitt matched up against Joeckel would determine any hypothetical game. I think it would be close early on, but A&M would pull away in the second half.

Truth in advertising: I'm an Aggie and follow A&M football closely...but....my wife is a 2005 grad, uncle is a grad, grandfather is a 1919 grad and played football there...so my second team is the Fighting Irish.

Your logic is ridiculous. A few of NDs opponents throw up stinkers and ND should be nervous.

At the same time, Alabamas big win, LSU, loses their bowl. The other big win, Georgia, struggles with an average Nebraska. The other "Big win", Miss St, gets drilled by Northwestern.

Yet, ND is the team the should be nervous? Because Pirt lost without 4 starters and OU threw up a stinker against the team that beat Alabama? Really?

That all makes no sense.

Texas beat ole Miss worse than Alabama did, does that make Texas a better team than Alabama?
