“@NDatRivals: Jamoris Slaughter calls sixth year return "likely" after his red shirt freshman year due to a meniscus injury in the Under Armour Game.”

If true would be astounding news! I was hoping there would be a huge surprise and he would end up running out of the tunnel Monday but I'm not sure about his injury it's probably a longer recovery.

However next year we'll have Farley, Slaughter, Prosise, Shumate, Baratti, and Redfield. That is one talented group of safeties, I wonder how we find playing time for em all.

It'll be hard for him to see the field but I would say that he is definitely the hardest hitter.

They say Redfield is good in a nickel position, though shumate looked good at that position at times, too. I would love to see something like that.

that would be awesome....I remember Kelly saying that the NCAA was likely to reject their petition for a 6th year...I hope he comes back

Collinsworth? I thought he was making a push until the injury.

IF he comes back, IF he is healthy, I don't see anybody else replacing him as a starter. You don't replace a guy with that much experience AND a decent player. Also, he played a little linebacker too. Redfield would have to just be dominant for him to start. I don't see it with a true frosh. Look at Neal, we all thought he was going to start in the slot at a somewhat weak position and it didn't happen. I "THINK" most sites had Neal better than Redfield, I could be wrong.

I can't see anyone beating out Slaughter if he returned next year. He did start out the year as our best/ most talented defensive back before his injury.

Redfield will play next season. Write it down.

Agreed. Way too talented not to. Would love to have Slaughter back. He was in serious beastmode in last year's bowl game v. FSU. Plus, it'd just make for a great story.

If the case, his on field leadership will be a huge asset with Teo being gone. While I agree we have excellent depth at the position, prior to his injury he was playing at a very high level. Further, one needs to consider the effort the staff and adminsitration must put for waivers such as these so it would seem Kelly is in favor of the move.

Collinsworth will be in the mix next year regardless of who else is there, if he's back to 100% he'll see the field. B.K. knows he can trust him and he's gonna be a stud before he leaves N.D.

While good news, wouldn't Slaughter coming back basically make ND full right now in terms of schollies?

Since they are still recruiting players, you have to assume they know some things about players we don't.

More competition = Better team.

Slaughter seems like a great kid. For his sake, I hope he comes back.

Such a great problem to have. Love the depth of talent we have.
