I don't usually get too excited with hits nowadays, but...I jumped up and cursed. That was a big hit.

Wow! That hit was insane! I think that call ticked him off!

That rule, or the enforcement of it, pisses me off. It's unfair to the defensive player making a tackle at full speed. Especially when the offensive player ducks or moves. I expect a number of helmet to helmet hits in every game. Now spearing is a different story.

 

The other one that bugs me is hitting a defenseless receiver when he is going up for a catch.

It should not have been flagged. You cannot initiate contact with the crown of the helmet or go helmet to helmet against a defenseless player.

Clowney is an incredible specimen. But he still has a couple more years to prove himself. That hit was insane, and then later he made another huge one in the backfield against, I think, another running back. It would be interesting to see how he grades out on every play and what kind of team player he turns out to be. Call me crazy, but I'll take Tuitt any day. Give me Tuitt, Nix, and KLM/Day; and forget about it.

I don't know, Clowney only made two plays (albeit huge ones) all game and in both cases it looked like blown assignments by Michigan-he was untouched. Lewan absolutely owned Clowney today (especially before he got dinged) it wasn't even close. Not saying Clowney isn't a great player, but if you get your hands on him right off it looks like he can be stood up.

This is football, not soccer. Take those liberal thoughts elsewhere and don't encourage them in my sport. I pay to watch those kinds of hits. I'm tired of this bs movement to turn football into soccer by a bunch of pansies who've never played the game.
