Notes

Today and Tommorrow "most contact days since USC"

Thin on offensive line, referring to Stanley and Hegarty

will "pick his spots" with offensive tempo, need big chunk plays

Austin Collinsworth had back surgery as well as the shoulder surgery

Will use more starters on Special Teams.. I think this means a Bennett Jackson, theo, or cierre citing

Devaris was "full go" on todays contact period

I'm sure I'm missing some,

ADD yours please...........

BCS games should be held up north too: "I don't know why we always go down there and they don't come up here" (paraphrased).

Real men play in the snow.

I could be wrong but I read Kelly pretty well, seeing as how I've viewed every presser he's had at ND, I think Kelly will throw to set up the run I don't at all expect 50/50.. 'I'm not gonna win with 2.5 yards a play, ... I'll just say it, we need big chunk plays..

Kelly's gonna spread it out first and foremost, pass against the base and maybe run against the nickel..

He's going all in... Thats Brian Kellly

I expect them to throw it too.. They did so as a tendency breaker against Georgia early on. It didn't really work that well in the first half, so the line go ticked and they ran it about 20 straight times. Jarvis Jones is probably the weakest run defender I have seen for an "elite" player against the run, dude got ran over against bama.

I think Shembo can get around the end and I KNOW he is a tough run defender.. So whatever Bama does ND should have an answer.

Nah, I for one want the championship, Super Bowl to be played indoors or in good weather. It allows both teams to showcase their talents. Snow and/or rain make games boring, one dimensional, and could favor one team. Its not fair, and the biggest game of all should be on a fair playing field.

I like cold weather games... Sure some physical advantages may be impaired / impeded, but this game is as much mental.

Cold weather reveals who is tough... For all seasons... It appeals to my inner viking

I took a few things away from Kelly's comments. They are similar to what most thought.

- Definitely need to get some big plays. We are not going to have 10 play, 80 yard drives on this defense.

- Kelly is going to play his best players as much as possible. Expect to see many key players on special teams.

- Kelly does not intend to let the guys go to South Beach to PARTY. This the National Championship, not just your run of the mill bowl.

- They will do some hitting, but sense Kelly has some concerns about the depth at OL and even DL. We canNOT afford an injury to a key player on DL or OL. Without Tuitt, Nix or KLM we are done on D. With a loss of key OL player, we are toast.

- Seems like we really only have 7 healthy OL. Starting 5 plus Hanratty and Martin. After that, we would have to play some walkon. So, everyone keep saying your Irish prayers for healthy practices.

I personally think that whichever team is hitting the most and staying sharp will win the game. How many times have you seen teams come into these games and come out flat Bc they weren't hitting? I'd find a way to get the Atkinson's, Chris Brown and Keivarae in on all special teams etc. bring the speed

BK seemed pretty relaxed/confident to me. I think he's enjoying every minute of it. Although he says they need big chunks, the key to me, as it has been all season is to protect the freakin rock. I hope Golson doesn't have it in his head that ND needs big plays. Use the running game, use play actions, and find Eifert. Protect the rock, play good D and bring this baby home. I like the idea of using everyone as much as you can, including special teams, but don't try to get too fancy.

IMO, do what you did to get here and don't overcoach this game..

I think they can get a couple as long as they keep Defense off balance.

I think playing in warm weather gives those SEC teams an advantage. Teams in the north have to game plan for weather. Some games you can't throw as much because of the elements and so on. Schools in the south don't need to take weather into consideration.

If the Southern schools got out of their comfort zone a little more, I doubt everyone would be claiming they are so great. I remember how shell shocked Miami was when they played us in snow a couple years ago.

Amen.

How is it unfair to play in the weather that Mother Nature graciously gifts two thirds of our country at this time every year? Yeah, many people want to go to a warm weather climate for a couple days of fun in the sun followed by the game, but there are an equal number of Notre Dame fans who would be psyched out of their minds to have the NC game on campus. And I know there are other northern cities like Indy which throw a pretty damn good Super Bowl.

Hell, with global warming, we barely have a winter up here anymore anyway. ;)

Still, real men play in the snow. That's a fact, Jack.

Yeah, not buying the concept that playing in the elements makes any football game unfair. I mean, it's not like we are talking about playing October baseball in the snow. It's football. By that notion, many an AFC or NFC championship game would be deemed 'unfair'.
