wow...i expected him to come back. is anyone going to draft him after the season ending injury???

Well McGahee was drafted in the 1st after a big knee injury

Smart move.

Someone will take him and he'll get access to an NFL rehab program and collect a pay check.

That will be a big risk for a team with the possibility of having a huge reward. The guy is a heck of a back. I remember watching him his freshman year and just being so impressed. I hope it works out for him.

Also considering this is his second straight season ending knee surgery IIRC, plus with what is being called a weak draft class at RB this year, it may not be a terrible idea... It is a gamble though

Yup. I wish him all the best...

If he makes it to the 2nd round I'd take him in an instant. Worked out well with Gore, McGahee, and George. This kid has the potential to be great.

Michael Bush isn't bad either..

Best of luck to this kid.. Was fun to watch.

Excellent point

I'd spend an early 3rd on him Bc I know he will come back and he is a helluva runner. He probably has 5 years of NfL in front of him. He will be almost a year and a half to two years of rehab. I hope he had Andrews do his surgery.

Sixth or seventh round is what I'd wager...

Agreed...I just can't see any team risking a premium pick on a player that may or may not ever make it in the NFL. His knee was destroyed. There are RBs in the NFL now who don't do half that much damage to the joint and can't stay on NFL rosters.

I really believe the smart thing for him in his situation would be to remain at South Carolina as long as they have him on scholarship, use their training staff and rehab facilities for free, get his education in order and make solid plans for a coaching career or graduate assistant position, then if the knee does heal he can pursue his dream AND have laid the groundwork for a successful future. Going pro while hobbled is putting everything on black AND picking a specific number....hedge your bets young man, life goes on a long time after the game is taken away from you...

Smart move by him. Collect an NFL paycheck, and get rehabbed by the best medical teams the country has to offer.

I'd put money down right now that he goes before the third round. Teams will fall in love with his personality at the combine (he's a GREAT kid) and the production is there.

The injury is obviously a huge flag, but someone will get trigger happy. I mean, the Dolphins took Pat White in the third round, for frig's sake...

Risk reward will be too high and someone with multiple picks in the 3rd or 4th will grab him.

Yep. Especially in the new NFL, the bonus money for a 3rd/4th round player is pocket change. Low risk/high reward at that point.
