I'm pretty sure this is the highest RB ND has gotten ever out of Rivals. Aldridge was #3 in his year, but #2, if it sticks, would be tops. So who else has been the #2 Rivals RB in their year?

2011 - TJ Yeldon - Sure, I guess I'd take him.

2010 - James Wilder Jr. - Just emerging, but a solid back.

2009 - Micheal Dyer - Good Freshman year, won title, busted out after that.

2008 - Trent Richardson - Yes Please.

2007 - Jeremie Calhoun - Bust

2006 - Marc Tyler - Ok, but mostly a bust as such a highly rate back.

2005 - Stephan Johnson - Ok college career, headed for NFL before accident.

2004 - Marlon Lucky - Did OK at Nebraska, hampered by injuries

2003 - Marshawn Lynch - I'd take him

2002 - Kregg Lumpkin - Solid career at Georgia, bounced around NFL.

2001 - Gerald Riggs Jr. - Solid career at Tenn, hampered by injuries a bit, bounced around NFL.

So there has really only been one bust in this group, a number who had solid, if not spectacular college careers and a few who were program changers. Overall, if Bryant approaches the average of this group, I think we'd all be very pleased. If he approaches Yeldon/Richardson/Lynch I think we'd be downright giddy.

Nice list here.

He may not go on to reinvent the wheel, but like I said before, the odds of his skills "busting" at the next level are pretty low. Vision, strength, body control, catching the football... those skills will not be unproductive in the college game.

Kid is going to contribute, and he's going to help us win football games. Gotta feel good saying that, whether it is as a complimentary back when he first arrives or a 20+ carries a game bell cow.

That is an interesting list. Dyer was really, really good and will resurface. Bryant definitely has the skills now let's just make sure his line can block like the current one. Also, having a mobile qb is going to make it harder to key on the running back next year and in the following years. He will flourish. Just a side note I think heisman trophy winner Ingram was a 3 star.

Nice list, but now that he committed to ND he automatically was downgraded to the #3 back in the country...;)

Fun fact: Greg Bryant, although from the State of Florida, lacks SEC Speed®.

I've heard that too.

From what I gather, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Auburn were all looking at him as a special teams only player.

Actually, I heard Alabama was going back and forth on just offering him a preferred walk-on opportunity.

To be fair to Dyer, he smoked himself out of CFB. Maybe he'll transfer to Colorado. ;)

Does anyone know what's up with Jamel James is he on the bubble ? Rivals has us listed with 22 commits, I thought I read somewhere he might not qualify academically about a week or so ago.

He hasn't done what was asked of him in the classroom. ND coaches haven't planned a visit to see him until he does that (if ever). In fact cooks will be Texas and won't even stop by. Smart money would be on him going somewhere else.
