Keith Jackson ABC and Coach Weis

Was scanning another ND site. I knew Jackson was making a rare eary east of the Rockies this time of year visit to ND Pitt game.

The poster did say that He (Coach Weis turned down requests to talk to ABC.(?) But would be glad to speak to Fouts at South Bend but not on camera.

The poster moaned that someone should speak to Charlie about marketing ND.

First of all it is Coach Weis calling the shots. Not ABC

He seems to have extraordinary time management and as we know is preparing now for Pitt. For me that's where his attention should be. He doesn't need another interview.

Lug your butt to the new Gug theatre like everybody else. He did stress that more or less only he talks for the team and no more "inside info."

What can Coach Weis say? Every news article I read is a carbon copy of what he said. Same ole same ole. I'm comfortable with that. I mean these half time interviews with the Coach just as he is leaving the field. "Any changes planned at half time Coacch?" (Why should he be telling the viewers his plans? I'd like to see Coach Weis say "Yes I plan to drink some water, sit down a minute or two and go to the mens room."

TRhe poster mentioning "media marketing by Coach Weis was...was...was...??

I've never seen such a smooth oiled media guy. No one compares. I've seen too many coach interviews by a sports guy on a golf course. And I don't mean just Ty. Media. Click news Yahoo etc. We are all over that area.

Yeah, those halftime interview are a waste of everyone's time. Of course the coach isn't going to give away his game plan for the second half. All you are doing by stopping him on his way to the locker room is wasting his time. I have an idea! Wait until the second half, watch the game, and THEN you'll know what his plan is/was. AMAZING!

  Ahaha Snatchy Yeah (The coach is behind) "We have to start scoring." (The Coach is ahead) "We need to keep momentum." Duhhh! Really? Could have fooled me.  Let Palko say his "F" word this time after losing.

Some additional information on the topic and some thoughts.

I could find only that ABC bothred to telivise 0ne game of ND in 2004 tho a couple slots listed no sports broadcast (?) Don't count bowl.

This year ABC is running 4 ND games. How come we are more popular in 2005?

I know we are "hated" for our exclusive NBC contract on home games.

But let's be realistic here. Whatever ABC gives ND. ABC Sports is making a ton of money off of Notre Dames reputation.

I'm told the average college game telivised runs 3 hours and up to 51 minutes. Those are lucrative ABC commercials destroying the ebb and flow of a football game to suck commercial money in.

We have no contract with ABC seems YOU ABC want to show it.

In addition to Jackson pining over no interview with Coach Weis. He seems to expect a dinner with Wanny. If Wanny wants to waste his coaching hours over dinner with an old sportscater that knows zip.. So be it. Coach Weis so far only dined with Ara and Holtz to ask questions from guys who have been through the mill.

I don't particulary expect an unbiased Jackson report no mabber how much Weis schmoozed him like Wanny.

Jackson seems petulant over being snubbed by a girl he once snubbed. :D

Wanny? All I can say is have a glorious 4-5 even 6 hour dinner with Jackson. :D

AP (Cleveland, OH) - This just in... Keith Jackson officially sucks. Weis is showing some brillance by refusing to meet with this joker. Jackson always has and always will hate ND. Chuckles probably got sick of hearing Jackson run his mouth about how great Michigan while Charlie was a student.

I love the fact that Charlie says he would meet with somebody other than Jackson. Fouts is a virtual nobody (especially if you ask Jackson), and not that great of a broadcaster, but at least he isn't completely biased against the Irish. Charlie knows that Fouts would give him a fair shake, and realizes he can't waste time chatting it up with washed up old "journalists." I use the quotes because any self-respecting journalist would slap me by using the same word to describe Jackson.

Finally, a coach willing to look the national media in the eye, raise his hand, and slowly extend his middle finger. Up yours ABC and Keith Jackson. I am officially protesting Gatorade, but I proudly support Haterade.

BEAUTIFUL post Bluester! Whoa Nelly, I'm a JACKASS! Just the sound of Jackson's voice makes me cringe. The fact that he actually believed CW would even consider a one on one interview with him is laughable. Somebody please explain to me what positive contribution Keith Jackson makes to the broadcasting world..............seriously. Why does this man have a job???

Domehead, would that include some of those really cool fingerless mesh gloves the skateboarders used to wear back in the 80's?

From Chicagosun.com

Weis said he had declined overtures from ABC Sports to tape ''drop-ins'' -- brief bits of canned insight and information -- for use during its telecast of the Irish-Pittsburgh season opener Saturday (7 p.m., Ch. 7, 890-AM).

''I told them, 'Why don't you go to the players?''' Weis said Tuesday. '''Why don't you go get Brady Quinn on tape? Why don't you get Brandon Hoyte?'''

On the other side of Youngstown, first-year Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt had a different take on the request: ''Why not? That sort of stuff is great for promoting your program, whoever they want to use.''

I agree about doing drop ins with Hoyte and Quinn. Notre Dame should have the opportunity to have their student athletes step up to the mike. Far too often we hear the same old jibberish from the likes of Wanny. Now we have the opportunity to hear from guys who are actually playing in the game, and giving these young men a chance to represent the university as talented, smart, student-athletes. I would love to see what sentence fragments the criminals from Michigan and Purdue would come up with if put on camera. "Der...der...der..."

Seriously, if i were a recruit, say Darren Walls maybe, and i was deciding between pitt and nd and all things being equal Weis wants to promote his players and Wanny wanted to promote himself i think i would have to pic ND!!! I applaud Weis and his effort. He's been on every web-site, magazine, cfb show, etc... already so why not promote the lads. Screw Keith Jackoff, and screw ABC!!! The only reason Jackson is coming to do the game is he hopes to see ND lose so his good ole pac ten boy Ty looks good. Heck, does Pitt have their own network?? When they played Furman or Temple last year did the local news even send out a reporter with a camera?? Seriously, would game-day be there if Pitt was playing anybody else?? Save for USC the answer is no. Weis is doing the right thing. He'll get more than enough facetime on NBC. Ya know that major network ND has all to itself ever other Sat. in the fall. Hey Keith, how many times are you going to retire anyway??? Maybe that should be the news story. Go back to your precious Pac 10 and shut the hell up if somebody who ACTUALLY COACHES A GAME doesn't want to talk to your pompous ass!!! I'll have Tony Roberts on the radio anyway. Ok i'm done ranting and i'm going back to work.

:D Bluester and IUrish Toby  That is what you guys say.

I read that Coach Weis won't give his troops the scripted game plans till just before the game so their are know leaks. That's the way to run the program.

Also above Jackson wants dinner with Wanny Thursday evening (tonight) Do so Wanny eat hearty. Coach Weis is practicing his team 7 to 9 under lights.
