Haters...

You know what really frustrates me, people bashing ND, but taking advantage of it the first opportunity they can. Not to go off on a rant here, but...

Take a look at Corso, Screaming A. Smith, or most any other ESPN "analyst." Corso is predicting the ND will go 0-6 or whatever. First, once game day comes around it's 50/50 he flip flops. Not only that but when we do beat Pitt, Corso will be calling for an Irish upset of U of M. We will not win in the big house. Corso will be back off the bandwagon and we'll then beat MSU at home, go on the road to beat Washington. Our pivitol game will be Purdue October 1st.

Smith is an entirely different story. He was one of the talking heads destroying ND for sh*tcanning Tyrone. Now all of a sudden he's premiering his show with Charlie as the main story. They bash or praise the Irish based on however they feel at that particular time, and either way their ratings jump because ND is such a polarizing institution.

The talking heads aren't the only people who do this. Pittsburgh is another example. For instance, they'll run their mouths last year, and have continued to do so. Especially about their BS BCS appearance. But of course, when ND comes to town they take advantage of it to it's fullest. Typically Pitt tickets sell for $25 a piece. A fair deal, although a bit surprising since they did go to a BCS bowl last year. For ND however, they're charging $50. Way to try to gouge football fans. Not only that but they didn't even sell tickets to the general public. Meaning the only people who got tickets were members of the Panthers fan club or some BS like that. Of course there are now several hundred pairs of tickets available on Ebay. Yet another example of people bashing ND yet willingly take advantage of it for their own gain.

I hate people.

Awesome. My favorite part was that last line: "I hate people." My sentiments exactly. I'm sure when Domehead reads this, he'll agree. There will always be haters, but it takes the truly enlightened to sit back and watch them make fools of themselves, much like we do on a daily basis. Maybe we can make some popcorn. GO IRISH!

There have always been these kinds of people....people love to hate us..but are quick to love us!! this is how it is going to be from now until the end of time..why? because we are the IRISH..we are of a different breed ..we expect to win, everytime we go to play..we expect to win no exceptions...as long as I have loved the IRISH..( 35 years ) that is how I feel...people love to see us struggle ( because of years of being beat on by us ) but you can just tell that when they do have us under their microscope that deep in their minds they know that it isn't going to last for long...why? because we are Notre Dame..and we expect to win every game, everytime..this..my fellow domers is what seperates us frome them.God Bless The IRISH...and yes "I hate people too"...heh heh heh

The thing that really gets my goat (or goad, I'm not really sure which), is the fact that they are trying to make money off of us. Granted, a embarassing amount of Alumni (presumably business majors) sold their tickets to the Nebraska game when Arnaz almost single-handedly (with a broken wrist) beat the No. 1 team in the country. The sea of red was a rediculous statement about Irish football and Irish pride at the time. However, at the very least our athletics department didn't try to jack up the price to gouge the opponent's fans. It was just our alums scalping tickets. And, needless to say I feel a certain amount of pride knowing I was one of the few Irish fans there when an underrated Irish team almost overcame the best team in the country.

That is a shady thing to do to opposing fans. The "Sea of Red" game was a shame, glad to know you didn't follow suit. I just wish that it was a win instead of an "almost."
