I have not heard one negative comment since Charlie Weis came on board as head football coach at the University of Notre Dame. He has a six year contract as head coach, there is no guarantee he will be there for the entire six years, look at the previous coach, who could not manage a fruit stand, Tys record was 21-15. That is unacceptable at ND. I predict Weis will have a solid 8-3 season in 2005, a guy who works 15 hour days six days a week and have his players prepared game in every week during the season. Weis has four Super Bowl Rings as an assistant coach to prove it. HE also needs the talent as well, COACHING and TALENT will

prevail in the long run. When was the last time Notre Dame won a bowl game..10 or eleven years ago. That will change under Coach Weis. Coach Dan is OUT FOR NOW

:D Same here Champ. No blow outs. Squeekers if any. I mean if your watching on TV and can say "Ho Jeese not that play again." Figure what the more experienced opposing coaches, spotters and players knew." Anything but another year of that. I think a criticism of Weis was he "gets too cute" in a play. I'd rather see some surprise that failed then a overly done play that everyone knows about.

I think watching CW's play calling this season, we will truly see just how predictable Deidrick's play calling was. If the average fan sitting at home on a couch drinking beer knows what's coming, every DC in the nation probably had it figured out weeks ahead of time.

I think a criticism of Weis was he "gets too cute" in a play. Quote from Sir John

Really, since when did the Patriots under Belichick (sp) or a Parcell's coached team seem to get cute with anything they did? Maybe I am thinking differently then you John, but I do not see Weis getting cute with anything. A no BS coach does not get "cute."

Nope misinterpreted that.

On Weis the remark "cute" was in media over some head scratching plays he tends to call, to those analyists. I simply reported it.

I do recall he ran 2 end run around reverses in a championship game last year game. Even ball carrier was surprised he would get same call again One was for good yardage the other a TD.

I think that's gutsy play cause they worked.

Of course if they failed it would be "cute" but somehow Weis saw something.

I think that's waht they were trying to say on "cute" works your a genius. Fails?? pits.

Same can be said by anyone 4th and inches to go for a TD and a pass is thrown but incomplete.

gotcha....I believe I remember what your talking about. Didn't Weis call those against Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship game? I remeber that game was over after the first quarter. Brady's bomb and Bettis getting stonewalled by Patriots D-Line and Varbel (sp) on 4th and 1.

Sokay Weisguy :D I don't mind what Coach calls.I believe it was the Pitts game? Kinda prophetic? Heinz field too. :D

As for cute heck the broadcasters aren't out on the sideline.

Which reminds me. Who do you or anyone think Coach Weis will have off the sidelines and up in the spotting booth? I think maybe Coach Vaas...cause he knows a bunch..but the other coach?

Right now Haywood seems heir apparent down the road. (?) Future HC there for someone at Coach Weis 101 coaching school.

Who is going to be up in the booth? That is really an interesting question because everybody Weis brought with him was always on the sidelines during their respective teams' games. I would think Vaas would be right on the sidelines with Brady, but they do have phones and headsets. Maybe Minter could be in the booth so he could see the field from a better perspective, but wasn't he on the sidelines when he was the DC for Holtz? Haywood is a good idea. He could see how Pitt is reacting to the plays. But Weis has always been on the sidelines calling plays. :?: :?

Hmm??? I think Minter has always been on sidelines past?? I figure Coach Vaas since he is primarily QB coach and Weis can watch the footwork etc.. But Vaas has tons of HC expertise a booth would enhance. D side?? You could be right.... He could see the offense better and radio down to Lewis or someone the calls he wants??

I feel stupid second guessing coach Weis I will watch who's who and where coach wise on TV. Does have to be the sharpest eyes and brains not on the sidelines

If I had to guess, I would bet that Vaas will be up in the booth, simply because he isn't going to be as involved in play calling, and he will get a second perspective of how Quinn looks from above. Weis can watch the up-close mechanics, and Vaas can keep an eye on how much movement he sees. Sir John, I think Haywood is getting groomed to be a HC in the future too. It would be nice to think that he will stay on for 10 years and take over for Charlie. Talk about continuity!

I changed my mind about Minter, side with Weisguy. Seems he would be up in the booth? Has more experience and can just radio a play down. Then you have Vaas who has been HC in NFL europe and seen a bunch.

Hey 3 freaking days to go and little else to talk about tidd Weise Day. :D
