Great information, I won't get a chance to catch it here from work, but I'm sure we'd all appreciate it if someone can listen and give us the run-down. Thanks!

I haven't been on the site like I should lately, I've been enjoying my week off from work  First game is the 27th of August, I'll be tuning in via College Sport (CSTV) Radio. Looking forward to an exciting season for all Irish Sports!

A number of items they hit on, most if it has already been recycled in the media a bunch of times, the last time Jim spoke to Charlie was just after the hire.

* Jim asked Charlie about his ring and how it helps in recruiting. Charlie said he needs the ring and that he doesn't have a pretty face so its great that their attentions are drawn away (and not to his mug)

* Charlie was asked about the loss of some players just recently, he said it happens, not everyone fits into a system (I'm paraphrasing). He expected some kids to leave, he wished them well but said he only wants kids to be there that WANT to be there. He stressed getting back to the TEAM concept, not the ME concept. Like the Irish were in the old days, ala no names on the jersey (you guys know the history)

* He talked about the strength of schedule. He didn't give any expectations outright but did say there was an urgency to win and win early. He said he didn't believe this team was loaded with talent (lost some good players and we have some young players with talent, just not with a lot of playing time. He mentioned the need of players to follow the game plan, plain and simple. Things have a way of working out when you do the right things.

* Not really much was hit on, like I said most of it was recycled, not Jim's best interview, oh and its clear that Charlie is all business, when asked about the anticipated excitement of stepping on the field and all the hoopla that goes with it ... what would be his feelings, was he going to be filled with the "Oh, my god I'm coaching for ND"? He said, its all business, thats the way I address everything. Charlie also made reference of sort that he wasn't in the making people happy business (I think that's the sense I got) .. Meaning he won't be pandering to the media. He's go a job to as do the players he's coaching. He was also asked about academic standards, he said he likes smart players, thats not the problem. If the Irish win, they recruit better, simple as that.
