Coach Weis and his players

It was perhaps not the best performance by Special teams but I am glad Coach Weis allowed them to take their pads off as the players appeared worn out some.

AOL mentions Northwestern settled a $16,000,000 lawsuit over a player that had Astma and died.

I am glad Coach feels toughness goes along with taking care of your players physically. He did have a Dr come talk about the NCAA rule "No spearing."

A sidelight is Local TV here had some football players on TV, the team I do not know.

The relevent part was that there is now a pill players can take before practices that will give the internal body core temperature to trainers watching monitors. I do not know the technology behind all of that. Just it's good to see "the old guard" coaches are gone and others more careful.

Along the same lines, all lineman and tight ends are required to wear knee braces. I don't know why this wasn't mandatory to begin with. If one of our linemen goes down on either side of the ball, we have a very shallow well to draw from.

That's true Snatchy. Beyond his ability I think Coach Weis is also coming across as caring for the players. Not only they will appreciate that but their Mothers and Fathers. An important selling point to recruits.

You won't be cannon fodder for the Coach if you come to Notre Dame.

ND isn't "Discard University" after joining the team.

Thanks Snatchy. That clears up a lot. I thought Bob Morton had some bad knees because he was wearing a brace, but it is good to know that they are mandatory.

Yup, if you look at any of the fall practice pics, you will see what I mean. Morton, Sullivan, heck even Fasano and Freeman all wearing braces.

"The Irish offense warms up for practice on Friday afternoon - the team's first workout of the fall in full pads. As you can seein the picture, all linemen, tight ends and linebackers wear knee braces while in full pads."
