Safety Jashaad Gaines, brother of ND women's bball player Tulyah Gaines, picked up an ND offers. He has a damn good list of offers so, sight unseen, I assume he is legit.

I had not heard of Gaines until the blurb about his sister. His overall numbers are not impressive immediately, with a 4.6+ 40 time, but the more I read about him, the more I like. He's supposed to be the consumate leader and a warrior on the field. That's great to have at the Safety position, which requires a lot of leadership and direction. And we all know how misleading the combine results and numbers can be. Also, I did happen to notice that if we do get him, that's one less recruit for a little school up in Seattle.

nice point on Seattle Snatchy. 4.6 is not bad for a safety.

Yeah, I was just putting it out there since most people seem to think that anything slower than 4.5 is a snail's pace. When you step back and look at it, it really seems kinda silly to fret over .1 seconds regardless of position. I'm just getting the feeling from this kid that he will go to practice and suit up and command the secondary. That's exactly what we need. Zibby will do a fine job of it this year, but I'm looking to the future as well.

most kids that say they run a sub 4.5 don't. they may be clocked there but it was manually done. They started doing it electronically this year and sure enough 40 times started to go up some.

The possibilities are endless. Bottom line: CW and his staff see something the really like in this kid, and I'll be the last person to ever second guess them.
