Guest SirJohn
A Chicago guy sent me this It was in ESPN.Com. I find it at NDNation as well. Seems Sunday Coach Weis showed his team the film RUDY. Near the end of the film Coach Weis had the real Rudy take a seat without the team knowing it. Her then introduced him. Now the shocker is the Real Rudy is a motivational speaker and many other schools use the film Rudy as a motivational tool for their teams. Coach called Rudy and asked him to come speak. 1st time. Now the film is like 10 years old other schools use it and ND just now shows it? Brings up two poins #1 Who the H***was minding the store for 10 years. #2 Coach Weis made an adjustment even on this matter. Guest Snatchy_McPants
For what it's worth, my best friend graduated from ND in '04. He said they had the "real" Rudy at one of the pep rallies. According to his description, this guy could barely put to sentences together, and is basically forming a career off the movie's success. Needless to say, my buddy wasn't impressed. Apparently, neither were the coaches or administration, because the following year, they brought in the guy that PLAYED Rudy in the movie! They actually had a Hobbit speaking in a football pep rally. Wow.
Guest SirJohn
Well I have heard the movie called corball.(?) Hoever, one mans movies are not another. All I can say is he is a motivational speaker around the country. And don't I wish there was something in my life to base a movie on and make money out of it. Not sure if a Pep rally counts as direct invitation to the University, which seems to be the first time. Otherwise a well written article by Forde on Weis embrancing intangibles. (Rah Rah) Did have a nice bit on Weis calling to invite him to come speak directly. "Coach Weis calling. " Coach Weis? Your kidding." More or less Forde said Rudy told him. "You had me at hello." Hobbit?
Guest Snatchy_McPants
Sean Austin played Rudy in the film. More recently, he played Sam the Hobbit in the "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy. Pennywise, he also played Mikey in "The Goonies," but that's niether here nor there. I wasn't trying to knock CW for bringing Rudy in, I just wanted to relate what my buddy had told me about his experience.
Guest SirJohn
You didn't knock Coach Weis Rudy and a Hobbit? That's not the worlds biggest movie career.

Guest Irish19
For a moment there I though you wrote all that, and I lost all respect for you because if you have that kind of time, WOW. But you didn't write that, that's gotta be the longest post in board history.
Guest Snatchy_McPants
Hey, at least I made my mark somewhere! I have a high tendency towards nerdiness, so if I set out to find information on something, I usually go all out. Nevertheless, if any of you ever find yourself facing a Sean Astin trivia question, you'll be prepared!
