DID YOU SEE WHERE A SCHOOL IN MAIMI WAS CLOSED DOWN AS THIS SCHOOL PROVIDED CREDITS FOR $ SO THAT THE KIDS COULD BE ACCEPTEDBY THE NCAA, I BELIEVE THAT ALL WERE BIG SCHOOLS IE, TENN, FLA, GEORGIA, AND A FEW OTHER SOUTHERN SCHOOLS, OF COURSE I DIDN'T SEE MIT, NOTREDAME,OR STANFORD,WHICH WAS NICE, I understand that notre dame actually looks pretty hard a at its mew recruits. good go Irish.

I did read that and it is an interesting and pertinent topic to bring up.

 

I think in the past we have all been aware of accounts of "fixing" grades. These generaly come out of reports in the deep South. I am NOT saying it is limited to just that one area. I believe it was the same owenrt operating a diploma Mill out West before he was closed dowm. There is no Federar law so simply break a State law and move to another Stat, there 50 chances for you there to make money.

 

I have reported in here the Great Alan Page after he graduated from Notre Dame was appaled to find some of his Viking teamates could not even read, after going through the College system. However, not one University was named as a culpert.

Everyone is under intese pressure. On one hand you have this hot kid athlete breaking all state records for his HS but simply and bluntly some 'dumbut' who can't follow directions or do school work. Every recruiting agency in the land is chasing this kid.

 

It's one thing staying up till 3 AM craming for a Math test with your Mom which is scheduled for 8AM and going to a diploma mill. And to be honest have some Universities knowlingly offer crip courses easy to pass. I believe one is offering Golf 101 in the Midwest. Saying that one still can not be too critcal, for instance I do not know what degree that football player is going for. Physical Education? Not knowing the degree I can't discover what the CORE requirements are.Calculus? Philosopy and areas before you get to electives.

 

I did like all snicker and get a chuckle out of Lienart taking just Ball room dancing. There to though I realized he most certainly got through all but one class and ball room dancing was most likely a weak elective. Legal.

 

A really super change in what we have been saying RECRUTING HAS BEEN CHANGED FOREVER, is that the NCAA is now cracking down on the graduation l3evels of athletes. GPA and SATS are reported. Another important fact is as I recall of this Florida incident, it was the Administration of several Universities making announcements and reporting this diploma Mill was unacceptible there. Notice not the NCAA butthe very School people aware that we need no more hot athletes who can't do the school work.

 

Coach Weis said it really simple in so far as a ND player is concerned. "Is he a good kid? Will he go to class?" Notice not a word about having 87 HS sacks or 3,900 yards passing? A k9id bending the system or cheating will expect to get away with everything cause he just is the hottest athlete around. ME! That's your, So and SO University had 3 football players arrested for..........(Fill in.)

 

I do notice here at Domers and elsewhere more and more posters writing not just on the kids physical skills, but his CHRACTER> "He sounds like a Nore Dame guy, He is a Team guy, he admits he needs good receivers to be a passer. He's talking about faith and tradition and degree."

 

I wish to thank my two daughters who sat here and contributed heavily to this post. They took what little football knowledge Dad passed on and left him laying in the dust.
