Guest SirJohn
Knowing Charlie's 'multi tasking' I would say this trip also covers, idea swapping with other coaches, scouting recruits, appearing on TV and friends as well. (Fly that Notre Dame Flag Charlie, ) From the York Dispatch ***************************************************** Notre Dame coach to visit York Weis to speak at James Forjan Endowment Fund Dinner in March STAFF REPORT Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis will be coming to York next year. Weis accepted an invitation from York Catholic High School to be the guest speaker at the James Forjan Endowment Fund Dinner. The dinner is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, at the York Expo Center's Memorial Hall East. Individual tickets cost $100, and they will be available at the York Catholic Development Office starting in mid-December. Proceeds will be used to supplement teacher salaries at York Catholic. Anne Bahn, York Catholic Development Director, said that Bernard Beazley started the endowment fund (in the 1990s) and named it in honor of Forjan, a long-time York Catholic teacher, coach and administrator. "He's (Forjan) beside himself with excitement," Bahn said. "Jim's the No. 1 Notre Dame fan." Weis, a 1978 Notre Dame graduate, has an 8-2 record in his first season at his alma mater. The sixth-ranked Fighting Irish can become eligible for a Bowl Championship Series game by defeating Stanford on Saturday. The 49-year-old Weis recently signed a 10-year contract extension at Notre Dame. He took over the Fighting Irish program after a 15-year career as an NFL assistant. Weis was the offensive coordinator for the three-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. He began his coaching career in 1979 as an assistant high school coach in Boonton, N.J. Weis will be the second Notre Dame head coach to appear at the dinner. Lou Holtz was the guest speaker in 1994. Duke men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, former Indiana and current Texas Tech men's basketball coach Bobby Knight, ex-Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers star Paul Hornung and former college and NBA star Bill Walton (UCLA, Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics) are among some of the other personalities who have been guest speakers.
