I got the impression that he was simply nominated for the bowl, not necessarily guaranteed to play in it. Am I wrong? I'm sure he'll be in it either way, I was just curious.

He was NOT named to the All American game yet. He was only nominated. Here is the story.

Frazer nominated for Army Bowl

By Alicia Johnson, July 28, 2005

Mechanicsburg quarterback Zach Frazer must have really wowed a few people at the U.S. Army National Combine earlier this year because The Sentinel's 2004 football player of year was nominated to play in the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which will take place Jan. 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

"It's always been a goal to participate in the Army All-American game," said Christine Frazer, Zach's mom. "We knew he would eligible as a senior and its been a goal of his along with the Big 33 game. I am sure Zachary will be totally thrilled that (playing in the army bowl) could be a possibility in the future."

Frazer, who is attending the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp in California this week, is joined by Bishop McDevitt's LeSean McCoy and Jason Kates, Lebanon's Jared Odrick and Manheim Central's Jeremiah Hunter on the nomination list. Official invitations to the bowl game will be begin in early September with the kick-off U.S. All-American Selection Tour. The tour will travel around the country officially inviting 78 players to compete in the all-star game.

Frazer, who verbally committed to Notre Dame University in April, broke Pennsylvania's single-season passing record with 3,674 yards.

"They know he has size and the ability," Wildcats head coach Rich Lichtel said. "He's a big league player and one of the top prospects in the country. He's proven himself by what he did last year and I think that is why he is getting all this recognition."
