My bad. I thought his last year at ND was 2016 not 2015 so he was obviously not one of the two starting safeties in 2016 which is what threw me.

Sergio Brown was someone else who had a good NFL career as a UFA at safety.

He was a great special teams tackler I remember.

Harrison Smith had a great NFL career compared to his ND production/accolades.

I believe Farley got moved to a nickel so he was a part time "starter" for one year which is what you're thinking of but he was a regular.

Safety is a position at which ND players have exceeded expectations in the NFL. I believe that it is due to the fact that NFL safeties are asked to make a lot of calls and Irish players are basically smarter on average than safeties from other schools and can handle the NFL playbook. At least one team's defensive playbook was 900+ pages.
