2022 WR Amorion Walker is Irish!?

I like this pick up personally. Even better if they are taking 4 WR

Anyone know why his home state LSU did not offer him? Perhaps LSU's academic standards are too high? 8-)

LOL. LSU figures if a kid has a 4.0 like this newest member of the ND family, he is not athletic enough! Believe me, you can't coach speed and this guy has it in bunches. Freeman might even steal him for the defensive backfield. At 6-4, bet he would break up or intercept plenty of jump balls!

FWIW - his coach said he's a blazer. Not sure how that squares with the 4.5-4.6 times listed above, but he is supposed to be really fast per Jersey's comment.

There talk of him only playing 3 games last year with some sort of injury. Also its hard to tell how fast a person with a long stride is. I never saw Miles Boykin as a 4.45 or so but he was.

He self reported a 4.56 on HUDL which is good for his size.

Sounds like he's got a great frame (tall and long) and good speed. Also offers defensive backfield options. The staff seems to want a receiver who can go up and catch the jumpballs. This kid seems to fit that criteria. He also missed almost his entire jr season leading to a ranking not as high as his talent. His head coach indicates he's 6'4" with 4.4 speed. Hope that's true. Kid has incredible potential for sure.

Welcome to Notre Dame Amorion Walker!!

Amazing how kids get shorter and slower as they get older :-)

6'4" 4.4 forty in high school

6'3" 4.5 forty in college

6'1 7/8" 4.67 forty at NFL combine

Curious why ND would take this commitment now with so much time left in the cycle. i certainly would have waited and tried to sign higher rated WRs.

Higher rated according to who? ND has their own board. They could give two $%#&$ less what players' star rankings are. That means nothing to them, so maybe they did get a highly ranked player.

Given how messed up everything is with regards to high football, you have to trust BK and staff on this one. They have a great track record in identifying WR talent. As proof, during Kelly's 11 years as head coach, here are the WRs that BK recruited and who were then later drafted:

Chase Claypool - 2nd Round

Miles Boykin - 3rd Round

ESB - 6th Round

Will Fuller - 1st Round

T.J Jones - 6th Round

I will put that record against any other top head coach out there. It, of course, does not include the 2021 draft so look to have one or two more WRs added to that list.

I definitely agree with this. To add, ESB was by far and away the most hyped recruit of that group and he has, by far and away, had the least success in the NFL. The other four have every indication that they will sustain meaningful careers there. Given that those four were less-heralded recruits, this is something they can hang their hats on.

Now, if we can get those results to translate to our passing attack more meaningfully. ;)

Its interesting that most of their high profile receivers may not pan but the lower ones do. Maybe im mistaken with that.

there is an expectation gap too. When we as fans hear about a 5 star player coming we immediately expect 1st round results,

These guys Kelly gets often surprise after we have no idea what to expect.

Will this guy be Miles Boykin or Micah Jones time will tell but chances are will Kelly's track Record I like our chances.

You would lose. ND is behind Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Georgia, Baylor, and USC for receivers in the game NFL.

I agree about expectations. But Finke certainly developed more than a lot.

I think part of it is that BK requires that the WRs are top notch blockers and, pure speculation here, many of the lower rater receivers are probably more likely to do that in high school.
