Wake Forest game dropped?

I understand why the ACC is doing this and why we would be happy about it, but In the event of a loss in the ACC championship game, more wins/games could very well be what pushes ND in over a 5-0 (or whatever they are) OSU team. For all the talk on this board about how it’d be better for ND to cancel games, I don’t think we have any idea what the committee will value at the end of this strange season, and the safer bet would be to have the most wins possible on my opinion.

The team needs a week off. I think this week off to reenergize/heal is much more important then beating a WF. Especially when ND has already played 9 games and Florida has only played 8 and Texas A&M played 7.

You know they just had a week off right?

And the amount of games is kind of my point. If A&M/FL have 1 loss and so does ND, I’d rather be 11-1 instead of 10-1. The same can be said about OSU. If OSU is 5-0 I’d rather ND be 11-1 than 10-1. It isn’t necessarily beating wake forest but the fact that we don’t know if (at all) the committee would value playing an entire season when no one else has. And since we don’t know, I’d rather ND play the full season and have Kelly use that as a talking point in the event of a loss to Clemson in the ACC championship game.

I also think playing Clemson when both teams play the week prior may be better for ND rather than both having a week off to prepare.

I’m worried that the Irish get screwed out of the playoffs with a loss to Clemson...I think the committee will look at the ACC Championship as a “playoff” game.

Depends how the game goes. I think if the Irish lose the AAACG the same way that they won the game in November they're both getting in. If the Irish win again I can see Clemson potentially getting dropped after a second loss.

I think a lot will depend on what happens with the SECCG. If Alabama thumps Florida and the ACCCG is another close game maybe both ND and Clemson get in regardless. If the Irish win again and Florida beats Alabama I could definitely see Clemson getting left out and both Bama and Florida getting in. Its going to be an interesting few weeks that's for sure.

I’ll be pissed if ND plays 11 games, beats Clemson then loses to Clemson and then is out while OSU plays 6 games or 5 games and beats Indiana and...Rutgers? And gets in.

Horseshit.

Idk I go back to my previous post. I know the committee is putting OSU up there right now but depending how the ACC and SEC championship games go I can totally see them leaving out OSU when the final rankings are made.

I don’t know.

I think politically the last thing the committee wants is 2 ACC teams vs 2 SEC teams

I think they are trying to keep Ohio St in it but OSU and the Big 10 are making that very difficult

Oh I agree completely but at some point you have to say **** the politics and you have to put in the four best teams that are most deserving of such. Even if that means one of those teams is Cincinnati. You can't put a team into the playoffs that only played four games. Especially when just one of those four games were played against a meaningful opponent. If you wanna reward OSU for the talent that they have on their roster and what the committee thinks OSU probably could have done against a full schedule, or at least 6-8 games, then give them a New Years 6 bowl.

I will add that if OSU plays Sparty this weekend and wins handedly, I believe OSU will get in, unfortunately. Even without the 6th game, which would block them from playing in the B1GCG, I think OSU gets in. I don't remember if I was watching an episode of College Football Live or if it was on SportCenter after the Oregon-Oregon St game, but I distinctly remember Heather Dinich bringing up the point that(I am paraphrasing here) OSU not having a conference title probably will not keep them out of the CFP (in these circumstances) since it was never a data point that kept ND from being considered.

The banter back and forth about the Michigan-OSU game likely being cancelled is great. Michigan fans are getting it from OSU for being pu$$ies while OSU fans are getting it from Michigan fans for being morons since it means OSU won't qualify for the national championship... It's really comical at the level of idiocy over there over this cancelled game.

Michigan has only beaten OSU twice since 2001 and it's unlikely they'll win this year so why not screw over your biggest rival.
