Updated 2020 Rivals 100

Recommended Posts

ND has 5 commits in the Top 100, and 3 in the Top 50 - when is the last time that happened? Big moves up for Tyree and Mayer. Pyne moves down a bit, but still included - huge disparity with 247 as they have him as a 3-star.

Jordan Johnson: 5-star, #21 overall (down 2 spots)

Chris Tyree: 4-star, #40 overall (up 24 spots)

Tosh Baker: 4-star, #44 overall (up 7 spots)

Michael Mayer: 4-star, #58 overall (up 13 spots)

Drew Pyne: 4-star, #100 overall (down 18 spots)

That's some firepower behind our line. JJ doesn't get much talk but he is the real deal.

im really surprised he's that low, I thought he would be closer to 100 than 200.

I am as well because he really dominated the camp circuit this summer. I think him not going to The Opening (due to injury) really hurt him. But he will be at the All American Bowl, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a big move after that week.

It's interesting how much a disparity there is between Rivals and 247 for ND's top recruits:

Jordan Johnson: #21 (Rivals) vs. #65 (247)

Chris Tyree: #40 (Rivals) vs. #63 (247)

Tosh Baker: #44 (Rivals) vs. #43 (247)

Michael Mayer: #58 (Rivals) vs. #72 (247)

Drew Pyne: #100 (Rivals) vs. #458 (247)

Kevin Bauman: #127 (Rivals) vs. #509 (247)

Rylie Mills: #160 (Rivals) vs. #165 (247)

Jordan Botelho: #211 (Rivals) vs. #41 (247)

With the exception of Botelho, Rivals is much higher on ND guys than 247. It's pretty remarkable that 247 rates Drew Pyne 358 spots lower than Rivals, and Kevin Bauman 382 spots lower. Even the highest rated guys - Johnson and Tyree - are ranked at least 20 spots lower on 247 than Rivals.

Updated Position Rankings

Pyne: #5 Pro QB

Tyree: #2 APB

Johnson: #4 WR

Watts: #100 WR

Brunelle: NR WR

Mayer: #3 TE

Bauman: #4TE

Baker: #5 OT

Carmody: #34 OT

Mills: #9 SDE

Ehrensberger: NR SDE

Keanaaina: #25 DT

Botelho: #16 OLB

Offord: #52 CB

Bartleson: NR CB

Lewis: NR CB

Peitsch: NR ATH (Rivals doesn't rank LS, but he is #1 on Kohl's, which is the premier site for specialist recruiting)

Have to really like offensive recruiting. If ND could trade Brunelle for Jalen McMillan, I would absolutely love this class. Still, it might be the best under BK (two 247 Composite 5-stars in Tyree and Johnson, plus four players in the Top 5 of their position groups in Pyne, Mayer, Bauman, and Baker).

Different story on defense. I really like Mills and Botelho - I think they are difference makers. Everyone else is a major question mark, although I do like Keanaaina and Offord. I also think Ehrensberger could develop into a contributor, but he is so raw that it is complete guesswork trying to project how he ends up. I think Bartleson and Lewis are reaches - hard to see either of them making a difference at ND.

Is anyone worried about Botelho? The last two crystal balls (months ago) came in for Washington after he pledged to ND.

No reason to be worried (yet). Recruiting is recruiting obviously, but until he steps foot on another campus or speaks about stepping foot on another campus, I wouldn't waste your time worrying about him. Also, those CBs were from 2018 not 2019.

At the end of the day if ND wins on the field they are just fine.
